**The opportunity**:WestRock is seeking a highly talented health and safety (H&S) Leader that will have responsibility and oversight for H&S in a complex global function.

In this position, you will provide leadership, coaching, and technical expertise plus strategic guidance and operational support to all assigned sites. You must be competent in leading high-performing safety teams as well as elevating the performance and skills of high-need sites. We are seeking a thoughtful leader who will help to develop WestRock’s approach to 100% SAFE and provide effective support as a key business partner for the consumer business segment.

**How you will impact WestRock**:

- Coaching and influencing leadership and team members to affect change in H&S
- Guiding site-based H&S professionals to drive progress towards achieving objectives and targets across the business
- Developing sustainable management systems for H&S to effectively drive engagement, identify, and reduce risk and provide a safe and healthy work environment
- Assisting implantation of WestRock’s Safety Management System, developing, and implementing effective injury prevention programs and ensuring compliance with company policies, standards, and regulatory requirements
- Assist the WestRock legal team in matters affecting the sites within the region
- Developing and implementing strategic performance improvement plans across the region

**What you need to succeed**:

- Extensive knowledge and skills implementing or transforming best practices
- Prior experience in the development/implementation of a Safety Management System
- Interpersonal skills to create a safety culture and be a safety advocate throughout the company
- High degree of proficiency in data and statistical analysis
- Experience working with H&S software systems as an aligned approach to safety and environmental data management
- Experience in the paper and packaging industry is a benefit, but not required
- Capacity to travel 30% to 60% of the time
- Very good English required
