**BAT BELGIUM IS LOOKING FOR A SENIOR GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS MANAGER BELUX**

**SENIORITY LEVEL**:Senior Management

**LOCATION**:Brussels (Groot-Bijgaarden), Belgium

**ROLE POSITIONING AND OBJECTIVES**

The Senior Government Affairs Manager Belgium & Luxembourg will be responsible for developing, implementing, and driving the BeLux LEX campaign plans required to successfully promote the Belux Corporate Affairs agenda with the relevant media and stakeholders across the BeLux market(s). Furthermore, the Senior Government Affairs Manager BeLux will be responsible for delivering and managing the Company’s CSR agenda, where appropriate as an integral part of the LEX campaign plans.

**Context BAT BeLux**

The Benelux organization is comprised of 3 markets, Belgium, Netherlands, and Luxemburg. BeLux functions are responsible for delivery across Belgium & Luxembourg. The need for strong collaboration and team working across the geographies and internal/external stakeholder management remains critical.

**Working relationship**:
Internal: Head of Government Affairs Benelux, GH/Regional LEX team, Press Office, Trade and brand marketing function, Strategy Planning and Insights, Marketing Finance

External: Local authorities and regulators, Local market media representatives, Local market industry associations, Consultants/Advisors, Academic world, Other FMCG, NGO’s

**Key Accountabilities**:

- Develop, implement and drive engagement plans required to successfully promote BAT Belux’s Government Affairs agenda
- Deliver and manage the corporate CSR agenda
- Building and sustaining a relevant media network in Belux
- Build and develop new stakeholder networks (advisors, academic, NGO, FMCG), supplementing and strengthening existing networks.
- Manage the press and be the spokesperson function in Belux
- Work as member of the Leadership Team in close relationship with the local managers
- Work in close relationship with senior managers of EU Rep Office in Brussels for continuous refinement of campaign plans and network development.
- Custodian of relevant and consistent corporate messaging and the corporate behaviour, including any public media and social media networks (e.g. LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Corporate Website)
- Develop and build new media and other communication channels across Belux

**Knowledge, Skills & Experience**:

- University Degree or similar level gained through experience
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in corporate communication / government affairs, Government administration or political organizations. A combination of experiences within both a corporate environment and the political arena is an advantage but not a must.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and deliver successful campaign plans in a complex regulatory environment
- Sound understanding of business and politics at strategic and tactical level
- Ability to balance contradictory interests and find win-win solutions in adversary environment
- Excellent communication skills and the drive to mobilize people
- Highly valued and respected team player
- Excellent Flemish, French and English language skills
- Hands-on, pragmatic
- Frequent travelling

- Belux engagement campaign plans achieve the set goals, resulting in demonstrable promotion of the Government Affairs agenda.

- Media network and new communication channels delivered, and integrated into campaign planning and execution
- Visible leadership of communications excellence across the end market
