**_The Portfolio Manager is responsible for the management of a portfolio of research projects on intersections between the competence clusters of Flanders Make. These intersections cover transferal topics between flexible assembly systems, motion systems, design optimization and intelligent control. Examples are Industry 4.0, autonomous vehicles, Digital Twins, AI, Learning systems, etc. The portfolio of research projects will combine state of the art technologies with the needs of the leading companies in Flanders._**
Working closely with the Cluster Managers, he/she will inspire and lead project managers of Flanders Make. He/she will ensure collaborations between cluster, accelerate roadmap execution across clusters for creating impact on industry with the transversal topics.
**Duties & Responsabilities**
The successful appointee will:

- be responsible for and follow up the definition of new research projects, involving Flanders Make research labs and companies, in intersections between competence clusters of Flanders Make;
- be responsible for and follow up the successful execution of research projects in intersections between competence clusters of Flanders Make;
- organize thematic cross cluster workshops with companies;
- coach project managers in the definition and execution of projects.

**Profile**
The successful appointee:

- has the ability to quickly learn new technologies in the research fields of Flanders Make in order to lead technical discussions with project leaders and experts. Technical understanding in autonomous vehicles, digital twins, control of mechatronic systems, design-operation continuum or industry 4.0 is an advantage;
- has working experience in a research environment (in industry, research institutes, or universities) and is able to relate research activities with clear industrial needs;
- has strong analytical and synthesis skills to create a clear management overview and summary of achieved results, next steps, risks and countermeasures within and across research projects;
- is results-oriented, self-directing and a team player that can stimulate team working for mutual benefit;
- is able to work and keep on track in a complex stakeholders landscape by influencing and steering in a non-hierarchical way;
- can understand the needs of companies and translate them towards the Flanders Make researchers;
- believes in the values of Flanders Make (customer value, working together, empowered people, excellence) and acts upon them.
