For more than half a century, WWF has been working over 100 countries to protect the world's species and natural places, pushing for a more sustainable world. By working with local communities, governments, businesses, and other NGOs WWF is defining new ways of working that will make a difference at a scale that matters to help redefine humanity’s relationship with the planet. From numerous initiatives, priority areas and priority species, the entire WWF global network is focused on six major goals - forests, oceans, wildlife, food, climate & energy, and freshwater - and three key drivers of environmental problems - markets, finance and governance. WWF France (220 000 donors, 3 000 volunteers, 90 employees, budget of 24m€, 5 sites) is recruiting in its Programmes department a 3-years short-term contract to coordinate WWF network 3-years global plan on Sciencebased Targets initiative.
**Responsibilities**
Under the responsibility of the Head of Climate, Energy and Sustainable Cities programmes, and in close collaboration with WWF Climate and Energy Practice, in particular its Climate Business Hub and its director, you will be in charge to coordinate WWF Science-based target initiative (SBTi) international programme by:
- Managing WWF network engagement on Science-based targets initiative (SBTi), in relation with SBTi overall strategy and in close collaboration with SBTi partners (CDP, WRI, UN Global Compact), WWF International Climate and Energy Practice (CEP) team and WWF Global Partnership Committee
- Providing a strategic vision on the role of SBTi in aligning corporate engagement with the implementation of the Paris Agreement
- Developing and leading the implementation of an annual work plan in close collaboration with WWF CEP
- Coordinating SBTi WWF support team as well as engaging people involved from participating offices
- Ensuring the follow-up and/or development of robust sectorial methodologies in relation to best science and data available
- Tracking new developments on corporate engagement, methodologies and science useful for the sectoral engagement and the efforts to be led under every scopes
- Developing and implementing grant proposals and key strategic partnerships around the initiative
- Engaging a multi-stakeholder dialogue on corporate science-based engagement approach
- Mobilizing analytical capacity for drafting reports and strategic briefing notes to achieve programmatic goals
- Developing programmatic and technical messaging on the issue
- Engaging best science and knowledge for SBTi with academics and recognized organizations
- Representing WWF in SBTi steering committee or other governance meetings, as well as externally at events, conferences and forums related to SBTi
- Expanding SBTi programme to new countries within WWF network with extended capacity and support
- Leveraging work on SBTi to engage further ambition within global climate arena via corporate engagement and ambition
**Required qualifications, skills and competencies**
- Master’s degree in business administration/school and/or in political sciences or science/engineering, with a
strong background in corporate sustainability
- At least 7 years of experience in business administration/development, preferably in an international environment and in relation to corporate carbon strategies
- Excellent analytical skills, managerial experience and strategic approach capacity
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, and an ability to communicate messages authoritatively and clearly to different audiences including through written materials, one-to-one meetings and
presentations
- Good knowledge of carbon methodologies and accounting
- Excellent knowledge of corporate environment and decision making processes in business related activities,
as well as corporate networks at global, regional and national levels - with a technical mindset
- Great ability to work with teams and in different cultural contexts. Tried and tested experience of building
capacity and knowhow in different cultural contexts
- High performance orientation and ability to work in virtual team structures
- Great interest for environmental issues
- Fluent oral and writing skills in English. French or any other language considered as an asset
- Office Pack excellent skills (Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
