**The Opportunity**

This paid internship scheme runs at Herbert Smith Freehills Brussels office between 1 July - 30 September 2025. Each internship is 2 weeks in length.

Our team covers the full spectrum of contentious and non-contentious competition, regulation and trade work globally, including:

- cartel and other behavioural investigations
- competition litigation (private enforcement and appeals)
- merger control
- antitrust advice
- regulatory matters
- state aid, public procurement, WTO and trade

**Responsibilities**:

- This role could entail working on a range of corporate and contentious matters across the competition, regulation and trade practice, including; general competition (antitrust), cartels and other behavioural investigations, merger control, competition litigation, regulatory matters, state aid, public procurement, and WTO and international trade.
- You will manage work to support optimal utilisation by assisting senior lawyers as required, taking the lead on designated tasks (particularly legal research) and consulting and offering solutions on client issues (with senior support), communicating your progress to your supervisor and team members.
- You will support the firm and others by establishing effective relationships with individuals and groups across the practice and wider network, upholding the firm’s values, contributing to the firm’s initiatives, and assisting with internal training and preparation of legal precedents.

In order to be considered you must:

- Be a 2nd/3rd year law student
- Must have the right to work in the EU
- Competition modules are desirable but not essential
- Be able to travel to our Brussels office or be happy to arrange your own accommodation
