Lab Technician

**Description**:
The laboratory of Neuroimmunology (NIM), headed by Prof. Dr. Emanuela Pasciuto, is a part of the VIB-UAntwerp Center for Molecular Neurology and focuses on multiple aspects of T cells biology in the context of neuropathology.

We are looking for a **lab technician** to support both **lab management** and **experimental research**. The role involves responsibilities in molecular biology, flow cytometry, and mouse experiments. We seek someone who is enthusiastic, organized, and motivated to take ownership of lab operations while developing their scientific skills.

**Profile**:

- Holds at least a Bachelor’s degree in life sciences; prior experience in a research laboratory is an asset.
- Has a proactive and service-oriented mindset, with the ability to work independently in lab organization and support the research team.
- Is experienced with basic lab techniques such as buffer preparation, molecular biology, and immunostaining.
- Ideally has experience in cell handling, cell culture, imaging, and histology; knowledge of rodent perfusion, injections and dissection is a plus.
- Possesses basic knowledge in at least one of the following fields: molecular and cellular biology, neuroscience, or immunology.
- Holds a FELASA B certification and has hands-on experience with laboratory animals.
- Demonstrates good communication, organizational, and writing skills; able to share results clearly and meet deadlines.
- Is motivated, detail-oriented, collaborative, and proficient in written and spoken English.

**Activities**:

- _Lab management & operations_: ordering supplies, maintaining equipment and stocks, organizing biobanking activities, and ensuring a clean, efficient, and safe working environment.
- _Experimental support:_ performing histology (sectioning, staining, imaging), molecular biology, flow cytometry, and cell culture; maintaining accurate documentation (protocols, SOPs, results).
- _Animal work:_ supporting colony management, genotyping, and surgical procedures (e.g., injections, transcardiac perfusions).
