Introduction to the position

The IT Department team provides a range of services that ensure and support high quality learning in every area of the school. As a member of the multi-skilled IT team, the IT Systems Administrator provides the end-user support of an IT Technician, but is also responsible for managing the ICT network infrastructure, in addition to training and guiding the IT technicians.

Key accountabilities

End-User and PC support

This end-user support is the crucial role of anybody working in IT; we provide timely and effective end-user support to teachers and employees to ensure that they can continue to be productive:

- Execute the job list as assigned daily.
- Communicate the status of jobs to the IT Manager daily.
- Solve hardware and software problems quickly and thoroughly.
- Solve end-user problems wholly and quickly.
- Size new Systems, based on user requirements

Work with the IT Manager to plan network upgrades and to test and select new solutions. Manage infrastructure projects including vendor contact, scheduling, and staying within budget

Work with the IT Manager to ensure that an appropriate business continuity plan is in place. Minimise the impact of a severe disaster’s IT service by developing, communicating, and implementing a recovery plan and completing maintenance tasks (including performing backups, implementing virus protection, and securing IT systems).
- Assess and differentiate risks to crucial systems and develop appropriate individual system recovery procedures.
- Develop a maintenance schedule.
- Identify failing systems and suggest solutions.
- Responsible for implementing backup and virus protection policies.
- Ensure school policy on staff and pupil access to data and files is implemented.
- Run the backup system and ensure the appropriate frequency and type of backup and
- the safe and orderly storage of backup
- Manage specific IT networking systems so that users can securely and reliably access network and Internet resources.

Communication

Ability to effectively communicate (verbally and in writing) technical information at an appropriate level and in a suitable style, having assessed the audience:

- Coordinate end-user support with the IT Coordinator and IT Manager. Provide clear and timely reporting to the IT Director and the Team.
- Document procedures.

Professional Development

Proactively expand and strengthens his IT expertise to ensure that new technologies can be effectively managed:
Research and master new technologies as part of the day-to-day job. Attend professional training courses and seminars.

Actively seek to maintain and extend expertise in appropriate areas.

Skills and competences
- Excellent knowledge of ISB's network systems, PC hardware, and peripherals
- Excellent knowledge of Google suite
- Excellent knowledge of MAC and Windows operating systems
- Excellent knowledge of the MS Office suite and MS 365
- Excellent knowledge of PC management and cloning systems and concepts
- Excellent knowledge of networking concepts, including writing, Ethernet, TCP/IP, DNS, switches
- Excellent knowledge of Windows 2016 and 2019 servers.
- Excellent knowledge of Linux
- Excellent knowledge of MDM Solutions like Jamf and Zuludesk
- Good knowledge of Azure environment
- Excellent knowledge of URL, FTP, HTTP, and SMTP filtering
- Good oral, read, and written English.
