**JOB DESCRIPTION - Data Manager**

We are looking for external consultancy to drive the improvements in the way of working in data engineering (main focus on data ingestion logic in data warehouse and big data systems).
- **Context**_

With an ever increasing importance of data analytics, the need to ingest data in a fast, qualitative and more and more real-time way, increases equally.
Today around 100 data engineers (majority externals) are designing, developing, maintaining and operating this logic.

The technologies used are mainly Teradata (datawarehouse), Cloudera (DataLake), Informatica and home made tools (ETL), Kafka/Flink/Couchbase (real-time ingestion), PowerBI/Microstrategy (reporting tools), Gitlab/Jenkins (CI/CD), Spark/PySpark (big data processing),...
Recent initiatives around efficiency revealed room for improvement in terms of quality of code, time to market, number of mandays to implement requests,...requiring a focus for the next 3 to 6 months to drastically improve the situation.
- **What do we expect in the assignment ?**_
- Implement a framework with guidelines and control mechanisms where we can objectively measure quality of deliverables and embed this in the DevOps way of working
- Work with chapter owners (responsible for the skills of the people) and product owners (responsible for the delivery) to
- review skills gaps, sharing of best practices, selection process improvement,....
- analyse business requests from intake to operations and propose ways to do work better, simpler and faster.
- review status of current efficiency actions (CI/CD, documentation, KPIs, sourcing,..) and propose ways to accelerate the progress
- Give recommendations on data architecture and tools that could improve time to market or reduce number of man-days to deliver
- Drive the actions in close collaboration with stakeholders
- Report and present the action plan, the progress and the results to an executive audience
- **Skills required**_
- 5 - 10 years of experience with data engineering and architecture, quality management and software development life cycle
- Bachelor or Master degree, preferably in ICT, or equivalent through experience o Project management and coordination skills (structured approach)
- Excellent communicator towards technical and non technical people
- Being capable to present for executive audience
- Experience with the agile methodology
- Drive to make things happen and progress o Energetic, enthusiastic and passionate
- **Languages**_

English mandatory, French/Dutch speaking is an asset.
