The scope, here, is to ensure substations projects are executed with the highest technical standards, integrating lessons learned, optimizing specifications, and aligning stakeholders for reliable and safe grid development.

The Key responsibilities expected from our consultant might include:
Support projects through high-quality and detail-oriented execution:

- Draft technical specifications and templates for contracts (general specs, Building Blocs, special templates).
- Handle complex technical questions and operational feedback and anchor solutions in existing or new standards.
- Develop processes, templates and methods for technical activities (e.g., project dossier template).
- Prepare the associated training plan for Infrastructure staff.
- Maintain, document and standardize technical solutions and related reference material.

Support projects with rational, data-driven assessments:

- Search for optimal technical solutions that meet technical-economic requirements while accounting for finance, environment, safety, standards and available resources.
- Lead and manage experience feedback on specifications and review inputs for continuous improvement.
- Set up, monitor and follow quality-control processes for studies and execution.
- Compile and manage contractor shortlists via technical qualification of companies and technical certification of persons.
- Map technical competencies in system integration (assessment, identification).

Support projects by facilitating communication and reporting between stakeholders:

- Act as the privileged interlocutor for stakeholders involved in project execution (contractors, project leaders, site supervisors, maintenance representatives).
- Work with Purchasing to communicate technical aspects for contracts.
- Consult and coordinate closely with technical expertise and maintenance departments while keeping safety central.
- Ensure professional management of technical standards and associated tools in consultation with technical expertise departments.
- Ensure the organisation has the appropriate advanced engineering tools for infrastructure projects.
- Present technical messages and give presentations to groups when required.

The experience we are actively looking for:

- Master’s or engineering degree in electricity, electromechanics or mechanics, or equivalent by experience
- A proven experience (2-5 years) in construction of substations, with focus on HV/MV rather than LV/protection
- Strong technical knowledge or electrical basics, with ability to learn fast on the job
- Full proficiency in one national language and good knowledge of the second, ideally also English
- Ability to take initiative and work independently
- Strong teamwork and communication skills, persuasive and able to convey messages clearly to large groups
- Analytical mindset with sound judgment and problem-solving capacity
- Assertiveness and ability to summarize and align diverging expert views objectively
- Interest in substations and networks development
- Immediate availability and presence in Belgium are preferred
