Internship Vehicle Body Structure Optimisation Using Ai/ml for Crash Safety Performance

Your team and your responsibilities:
**_ _**Vehicle Performance Engineering division (VPE) is part of Research and Development group at Toyota Motor Europe Technical Center in Zaventem, Belgium. Our division is in charge of:

- Identifying and understanding legal, market and customer driven requirements and trends, and turning them into development targets for vehicles, their subsystems, and down to components
- Development of passenger vehicles for European market
- Researching state-of-the-art and beyond state-of-the-art technologies for implementation in future vehicles

Vehicle Safety team takes care of development and evaluation of Passive Safety performances of vehicles.

Supporting Toyota’s strong commitment to safety, we strive to guarantee compliance to all legal (EC Regulations), as well as other (real life safety, consumer ratings etc.) requirements covering Interior Safety, Protection of Pedestrians, Child Protection and crash performance of EU models.

Your project_**

You will support the crash safety team in exploring and implementing the use of AI/ML tools to improve the prediction and optimisation process of vehicle body structure for crash worthiness.

Activities included are
- Adapting the existing prediction and optimisation workflows
- Preparing the data for training of AI/ML model
- Training of AI/ML model including iterating training parameters to get best accuracy

Your Profile:

- _You are fluent in English (TME’s business language)_
- Studying for _master’s in engineering (mechanical, automotive, aerospace, or similar)_
- Experience of with some commercial PIDO tools (ex. ANSYS Optislang, Altair HyperWorks etc.)
- Knowledge/experience with Deep Learning on 3D or geometric data is a plus
- Strong competency in coding skills (Python)
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills reinforced by good common sense
- You are a quick and eager learner with a flexible mind and good eye for details
- You are a team player with good communication skills inside a multicultural environment
- Good self-organization and time management
