The Global Policy and Solutions team is a dynamic team that leverages the power of IRC’s ideas to solve the biggest challenges facing IRC’s clients across the “arc of crisis.” From combating the drivers of conflict to meeting the needs of displaced people, the team partners with innovative thinkers, experts and those with lived experience to identify solutions and bring them to life. **Job Overview**:As the Policy Adviser, you are in the epicentre of IRCs idea marketplace: the solution network. You will be responsible for developing solutions that are high impact, have amplification potential and are doable. You are a critical thinker and curious about IRCs programs, practice and partnerships. You seek to make the most of IRC’s knowledge across departments, and look for new and creative partnerships outside the organization. You help IRC cultivate a network of policy analysts and policy makers that enable you to rapidly test new ideas. You are clear communicator and can distil the complexity of policy for a range of audiences. This team is bold, quick moving, open to new ideas, and collaborative, working as part of IRC’s broader External Relations Department to delivering on shard policy, profile and funding objectives.

**Major Responsibilities**:

- **Analysis and Solution generation**: Work with internal and external stakeholders (esp. programmatic teams) to understand the biggest challenges facing IRC's clients and support the team in the creation of a suite of technical and policy and practice solutions, bringing your understanding of the role of the EU and key member states, in particular France and Germany
- **Thought Leadership**: Be IRC's authoritative voice internally and externally on solutions for the most pressing issues facing our clients. Lift other policy voices as appropriate, especially those of crisis-affected individuals and local organizations.
- **Collaboration and Convenings**:Support policy team in maintaining a “solutions network” of IRC staff and external experts to continuously push IRC’s policy and solutions development. Contribute to efforts to see IRC’s solutions adopted as practice by our targets by building and maintaining relationships with key officials in the EU institutions and member states, particularly German and French government departments.
- Help develop and set agendas for IRC curated high level policy roundtable events designed to provide the organisation with a better understanding of the barriers and solutions to policy reforms needed to improve the wellbeing of our clients
- **Research**:Regularly monitor, analyze, and report on developments in major humanitarian crises, with a focus on IRC’s core policy priorities. Work closely with Advocacy & Influence colleagues to track and analyze policies and legislation of governments and other actors in the international community that impact humanitarian crises and responses, with a particular focus on the EU and key member states such as Germany and France.
- **Content and message development**: Develop analytical and policy content (reports, briefs, etc.) that can be leveraged across IRC for influence, funding, and profile-building opportunities. Support the maintenance of IRC’s messaging documents on priority issues. Provide policy analysis and tailored recommendations for specific targets, particularly the EU and its member states.
- **Focused Advocacy and Analysis**: Support the advocacy team, representing the IRC in meetings with key policy officials and decision makers and/or contributing to briefs for targets. Where relevant, help identify advocacy targets (esp. political appointees).
