Come join us on our journey to create solutions for sustainable agriculture at the Innovation Center of BASF Belgium Coordination Center CommV in Ghent, Belgium. **RESPONSIBILITIES** Within BASF Seed and Traits R&D, plant cultivation refers to the growth of plants and the production of quality seeds in greenhouses and growth chambers. The Plant Cultivation group in Trait Research grows plants for crops such as wheat, soybean, oilseed rape and cotton, and produces and ships high quality seeds for further evaluation in the greenhouse or in the field. The group operates and carries this responsibility at multiple locations around Ghent. Plant Cultivation aims at being highly experienced and predictable in workflow-based operational organization towards mínimal cost and timelines, while also ensuring required quality, both at the level of purity as well as at the level of Plant Genetic Integrity. Plant Cultivation also aims at being state-of-the-art by identifying, developing, and implementing latest technology and infrastructure. Plant Cultivation is embedded in a research department that focuses on trait design, creation, and testing, and supports the testing of genetic engineering, genome editing and mutagenesis-based traits. For the Plant Cultivation group in our R&D Innovation Center in Ghent (Belgium) we are looking for a pragmatic and enthusiastic greenhouse Technician. What you can expect: - In this role you will be part of our Plant Cultivation group and support delivering on R&D projects at a competitive cost, speed, and quality. - As a technician, you will be hands-on involved in the execution and organization of research experiments in the area of plant cultivation. - You will record, compile, and summarize experimental data and report to your supervisor and in the relevant databases (Ceres and eLN). - You will evaluate the technical quality of data (generated in experiments) under supervision/independently and seek advice/troubleshoot when needed. - You will contribute to workflow improvements. - You will develop and broaden technical skills and strengthen innovative thinking. - You will show self-leadership: increase the ability to plan tasks efficiently and autonomously. - You will ensure compliance with all existing company standards (Quality, Health, Safety, Environment, Biosafety and Stewardship) in the area of responsibility. - Location: Astene, Bottelare and Zwijnaarde. **QUALIFICATIONS** - You have a bachelor's degree in Life Sciences (or equivalent through experience) with at least 1 year of relevant, successful experience. - You are accurate and technical independent. - You have a good knowledge, understanding and hands-on experience of technical protocols (preferably in the area of plant cultivation). - You are able to plan and organize the work on a daily or weekly basis. - You have relevant computer skills (Microsoft Office), affinity with relevant software and databases. - You can communicate (orally and preferably also written) in English. - You are a team player. - You are eager to learn. - You are positive, enthusiastic, pragmatic and you have a getting-things-done mentality. **BENEFITS** - Responsibility from day one in a challenging work environment and "on-the-job" training as part of a committed team. - Competitive compensation including attractive benefits as well as excellent career opportunities in an international company. **ABOUT US** We are the world's leading chemical company because we offer intelligent solutions for our customers and for a sustainable future.
