As a Flemish, internationally recognized research center, VITO wants to accelerate the transition to a sustainable world.

With its research program Health, VITO is committed to supporting the social transitions to a more preventive health system. One of the pillars is disease prevention due to environmental pollution. Measurements of chemicals in the environment and in humans combined with information on lifestyle factors which can influence exposure (for example diet, stress, physical activity, green space, use of consumer products) provide essential information which we can use to map the health risks and then take measures to control them.

We are looking for a new colleague to strengthen our team in translating the results of our health research to solutions for policy makers.
- You will execute - under the leadership of an expert - delineated aspects within various European projects in the field of environment & health.
- You will cooperate on the development of instruments underbuilding policy advice to protect health in different European policy areas.
- You will support the project team with analyzing, synthetizing and visualization of big data sets.
- You will present research
- and project results on (inter)national fora and ensures knowledge transfer to the team.
- You have a degree in science (master/PhD).
- Knowledge of statistical techniques and software (namely R) including data visualization expertise is an asset.
- You are passionate about the inspiring context of sustainable health.
- You preferably have knowledge of exposure to chemicals, environmental factors in relation to lifestyle and you can translate these into health risks for policy makers. Toxicological and epidemiological knowledge are a plus.
- You can critically analyze datasets and synthesize them into useful advice for governments and customers. You work solution oriented.
- You are eager to learn and see working in various projects under expert guidance as an instructive challenge.
- You work accurately and systematically; meeting deadlines is your strength.
- You are an initiator who can work smoothly in a team and can adapt to changing circumstances.
- You are communicatively strong and able to express yourself clearly in English, both orally and in writing.
