Ghent University's mission statement is characterised by qualitative education, internationally renowned research and a pluralistic social responsibility. **ASSIGNMENT** Taking up this position, which is funded by the Special Research Fund, leads to an appointment in a tenure track system for a duration of 5 years and implies the privilege of devoting oneself almost exclusively to research activities during this period, with a teaching load limited to no more than 8 ECTS credits per semester on average over a period of 3 years. After positive evaluation, this will be a regular position, where the time commitment will consist of approximately 40% research and 60% spent on theoretical and clinical teaching within the Bovine Herd Health Management: For the further development of the academic career, please see ‘Appointment information’ below. **Academic education** You lecture various course units in the discipline of Precision Livestock Farming with a particular emphasis on its use in bovine herd heath management **Academic research** You conduct research in the discipline of Precision Livestock Farming with a particular emphasis on its use in bovine herd heath management **Academic services** You take part in the internal and external service provision of the Department of Internal Medicine, Reproduction and Population Medicine. **PROFILE** **Experience** - You have a master degree in Veterinary Medicine - You have conducted excellent academic research in the given discipline, which is clearly reflected in outstanding publications in national and international peer-reviewed books and/or scientific journals; - You have didactic skills aimed at developing and realizing clinical skills in veterinary medicine students; - You are a certified specialist (Diplomate) from a relevant specialization college related to Bovine Herd Health Management (such as ECBHM, ECAR, ECVPH, American College of Theriogenoloy, American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine - Large Animal Internal Medicine), or are aiming to achieve this within 5 years after appointment. - Recommended are: o Experience in leading research and/or supervising PhDs; o Experience in attracting and monitoring external research funds; o Experience with international mobility, including through stays in external research institutions; o Positively evaluated experience with provided and/or organized education at an academic level; o Have knowledge and experience with educational professionalization; o Expertise and experience in working with data on modern (cattle) farms; o Recognize the need for the further development of sustainable (cattle) livestock farming; o Have a broad (inter)national network within the various stakeholders involved in modern (cattle) livestock farming and being prepared to expand this further. - You must master the language of instruction in which you will teach a course at CEFR- level C1.You can demonstrate this by means of a language certificate or a diploma obtained from an institution in which that language is the language of instruction. In addition, Article II.270, -1 of the Codex of Higher Education requires that: (i) you must master the Dutch language at least at CEFR-level A2 within two years after the start of the appointment. (ii) you must be able to master the Dutch language at least at CEFR-level of B2 within five years after the start of the appointment. Upon evaluation of a foreign (non-EU) diploma, a certificate of equivalence may still have to be requested at NARIC.
