Short Description: The Material Management Specialist is a senior expert responsible for advanced inventory planning, supply chain analytics, and continuous improvement across end‑to‑end materials management. Acting as a technical lead, the role focuses on complex problem solving, long‑term planning, system optimization, and data governance, supporting operational excellence and decision‑making. The position reports to the Material Management Manager.
Key Responsibilities
Advanced Supply Chain & Inventory Strategy
- Lead strategic inventory planning using simulation, modelling, and scenario analysis
- Optimize working capital, inventory turns, and service performance
- Define and maintain KPIs, dashboards, and analytics supporting S&OP and management decisions
- Identify long‑term supply and demand risks and propose mitigation strategies Continuous Improvement & Operational Excellence
- Drive improvements in inventory management, warehouse efficiency, and planning governance
- Act as SME in system upgrades, process redesign, and automation initiatives
- Support testing and validation of new features in SAP, APO/IBP, and WMS Systems Ownership & Data Governance
- Own and approve changes to planning parameters and inventory settings
- Develop reporting, analytics, and models to support tactical and strategic decisions
- Ensure data integrity, master data consistency, and process discipline Stakeholder Management & Communication
- Represent Materials Management in cross‑functional collaboration (Sales, Procurement, Production, Logistics, Quality, Finance)
- Communicate insights, risks, and recommendations clearly to operational and leadership stakeholders Coaching & Capability Building
- Act as technical mentor for Material Management Coordinators
- Support best‑practice sharing and team capability development Compliance & Safety
- Promote a safe and compliant working environment
- Support audits and conduct SOX spot checks in line with internal controls Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree (preferred) in Supply Chain, Engineering, Economics, Operations Research, or related field
- 7+ years of experience in materials management, inventory planning, or supply chain roles
- Strong expertise in SAP, APO/IBP, WMS, and advanced Excel / Power BI
- Proven analytical skills (scenario analysis, forecasting, root‑cause analysis)
- Ability to influence cross‑functional stakeholders without formal authority
- Strong communication skills and business acumen Preferred Competencies
- Deep understanding of inventory risk, financial trade‑offs, and working capital impacts
- Ability to translate complex data into clear insights and recommendations
- Strong ownership mindset with focus on continuous improvement and data quality
