The Stantec Center of Expertise in Communications and Stakeholder Engagement provides a full spectrum of Communications and stakeholder engagement services, supporting climate and energy policy outreach. We approach stakeholder engagement in an integrated manner to ensure that communication and European policy strategies are closely coordinated with and support the technical components of the project. Our communication projects are focused on Sustainability, Clean Energy, Energy Transition, Climate Change, Nature and Biodiversity, and Circular Economy and aim at raising wider awareness and understanding of related European policies.

Stantec Belgium’s major client groups include European Union institutions, governments, international funding, aid agencies (EU, EBRD, World Bank, EIB, USAID, the Kuwait Fund, DFID and the UN), and utility companies.

We employ and partner with a diverse network of communication experts, Energy experts, Climate scientists, and environmental specialists. They help us bridge the gap between sectoral expertise and the need for efficient, impactful, and clear messages. They enable us to deliver communication expertise in those specific areas where we have been active over the last 20 years, namely environment, climate change, water, and energy-related sectors.

Stantec has assumed many leadership roles and provided a complete range of management services for Online Communications on the Global Climate Change Alliance+, EUROCLIMA, and is currently implementing the project EU Leading the Global Energy Transition. In addition, Stantec supports the Foreign Partnership Instruments (FPI) for online communications and event management.

Communication & Visibility Officer (Level Career 5)

to join our international and dynamic Belgian unit to support our growth and ambition in Communications and Stakeholder Engagement services led by the Centre of Expertise in Communications.

Job purpose

The Communication and Visibility Officer will be part of the Center of Expertise in Communications. She/he will be involved in the implementation of the communication activities covered by different contracts.

On one project, the Communication and Visibility Officer will act as a desk manager; updating a database of news items, scouting news feeds from all relevant news sources to look for stories and developments that are related to nature and biodiversity, circular economy, and quality of life, climate change mitigation and adaptation, and clean energy transition using website crawling and monitoring tools. It will compile and file all these relevant stories into a single database, together with a summary for each story and the link to the actual report. It will also manage the editorial process with content editors to produce high-quality deliverables and submit those for client approval.

This activity will be complementary to her/his role on another project which will include the implementation of a communication plan among which the production of communication materials in collaboration with dedicated communication technicians such as designers and video operators.

**Responsibilities**:

- Design, implement and update as needed the communication and visibility strategy and related communication work plan of the assigned contracts. Ensure regular monitoring and reviews, as necessary, ensuring multi-channel coherence.

Sub-activities may include, among others:

- Definition of objectives and impact. Generate creative ideas that are specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time-bound, ensuring localisation towards audiences (geography, language, behaviours and expectations).
- Strengthening the communication of the programmes, as well as their knowledge management by ensuring a systematic collection and sharing of products and best practice.
- Enhance the visibility of the contracts at national, regional, and international level, depending on the scope of the projects. This can be done through the support to local key experts on the ground as well as the management of the production of communications products, ensuring quality reviews with dedicated teams on projects.
- Support the Contracting authority with the identification of core messages to underpin the communication and visibility of EU engagement on the projects, perform target group and stakeholders’ analysis and identify key target audiences and stakeholders to engage with, etc. producing calendar of actions and key performance indicators.
- \tIf applicable, oversee the development of the project’s deliverables including preparation of briefings, press releases, newsletters, statistics on the programmes, annual or specific publications, flyers and posters, videos, technical studies, lesson learning reviews, projects’ websites.
