**ESG Analytics**
Department Description
The ESG Analytics team delivers analytical and production capacity in a centralized manner to meet the needs of all MESG’s business lines. In addition to conducting analytical work, team members serve as Subject Matter Experts regarding ESG data, analytics and opinion.
Role/Responsibilities- ** Responsibilities**:
The Associate will have the following responsibilities:
- Contributing to the screening of a universe of 53,000 companies to identify and assess companies’ involvement in military sales, civilian firearms and controversial weapons.
- Carrying out segment / product sales revenues estimates.
- Collect, summarise and analyse all relevant weapons-related information (from external sources (ex. corporate websites, annual reports, sustainability reports, etc. or internal system) of companies belonging to specific industry sectors using MESG assessment framework;
- Produce analysis of the covered companies within timelines and quality standards, demonstrating proficient understanding of the methodology, process, and overall analytics framework;
- Contribute to the production of thought-leadership pieces and associated bespoke production.
**Qualifications**:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and/or experience in related discipline (international relations, security/strategic/conflict/peace studies);
- 6 months relevant work experience in defence and arms trade analysis, desirable;
- Strong interest in defence industry sector and defence procurement.
- Excellent attention to detail, achieving thoroughness and accuracy in research output;
- Excellent proficiency of written and spoken English (working language);
- Knowledge of other languages (especially Japanese, Korean, Chinese or Russian), desirable.
- Ability to collect, analyse and synthesise quantitative and qualitative data from various sources to create a meaningful analysis.
- Open source intelligence, creativity and a detective’s mind are critical skills.
- Ability to work autonomously, under the supervision and support of a team
- Strong knowledge and experience working with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), ideally with proven ability to manage large datasets in Excel;
- Demonstrate analytical skills and critical thinking
- Demonstrate time management skills to meet deadlines
- Team spirit, communication, and good listening skills are valuable and important.
