Experienced Light Microscopist

**Profile**:

- You possess at least a Master degree or a Ph.D. in Biomedical, Biological Sciences or related disciplines, or equivalent through experience
- You have experience in a Life Science research environment for at least 4 years
- You have wide experience in light microscopy, and confocal microscopy in particular, for at least 4 years
- You are technology-minded and have a service mindset for supporting and enabling the best science by offering of expertise on technology
- You are a team player with strong social, communication and didactic skills
- You are well-organized, structured and able to autonomously plan and execute tasks, documenting and reporting work accurately
- You are meticulous and self-motivated
- You are eager to learn and adapt in a fast-evolving environment
- Good English skills, both oral and written are a must
- The following is an asset:

- Experience in image processing and analysis, particularly of light sheet datasets
- Neuroscience background
- Experience working in a microscopy core facility
- Experience in following-up Life Science research projects

**Main activities**:

- Discuss experimental design, including sample preparation, acquisition and image analysis possibilities with users and colleagues
- Define the most optimal imaging strategy for incoming research questions
- Ensure that the core’s instrumentation is benchmarked and working up to standards
- Train users on the core’s instrument portfolio, and follow-up evolution of newly trained users
- Take part in immediate support permanency in the core
- Participate in teaching activities organized by the core (courses, workshops, seminars)
- Stockkeeping of reagents required to perform standard clearing protocols for sample preparation
