Lab Technician

VIB (Vlaams Instituut voor Biotechnologie) is a renowned life sciences research institute in Belgium, committed to conducting groundbreaking research in life sciences and biotechnology with an excellent reputation in technology transfer. The VIB Technologies program constitutes the centralized scientific research infrastructure of the institute and allows scientists access to high-end and innovative technologies. VIB Technologies comprises multiple state-of-the-art core facilities, each with a specific technology focus and embedded within the VIB centers in Ghent, Leuven, Antwerp or Brussels. The role of these core facilities is to support the 1900 researchers at VIB with their expertise. Within VIB Technologies we have over 120 staff members.

VIB Technologies Satellite Antwerp, embedded in VIB-UAntwerpen Center for Molecular Neurology (CMN) provides access to cutting-edge technologies for single-cell level sample analysis. Our satellite facility offers on-site support in flow cytometry and single-cell omics under the wings of VIB Single Cell Core and VIB Flow Core. We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated colleague to join our team in Antwerp.

**Your Role**:
As a Lab Technician at the Tech Satellite Antwerp, you will:

- **Support flow cytometry & single-cell omics workflows**:

- Execute wet-lab experiments including single-cell/nuclei sequencing, cell processing, and sample preparation.
- Perform daily maintenance and quality control of flow cytometers and cell sorters.
- Assist researchers with sample preparation, acquisition, and data analysis (e.g., FlowJo).
- Train users on instruments and best practices.
- Maintain accurate documentation (protocols, SOPs, experimental results).
- Collaborate closely with researchers to ensure smooth project execution and high-quality results.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies in flow cytometry and single-cell omics.

**Profile**:

- Bachelor's degree in life sciences or industrial engineering, with relevant lab experience.
- Practical knowledge of cell handling, molecular biology and basis wet-lab techniques.
- Experience with **flow cytometry** (FACS) and/or **single-cell sequencing** is a strong plus.
- Service-oriented mindset, strong communication skills and ability to train others.
- Independent, proactive and eager to learn in a fast-evolving environment.
- Comfortable working in an international setting: fluent in English
