Mechanical Project Engineer – Machine Building West Flanders, BelgiumFor one of our clients, a well-established company specialized in custom machine building, we are looking for a Mechanical Project Engineer to strengthen their engineering team. The role sits at the intersection of mechanical design, project coordination, and industrial execution.The roleYou will be responsible for mechanical projects from concept to delivery, working closely with internal teams and external partners. Each project is tailor-made, meaning technical depth, variation, and close involvement with the workshop are key aspects of the role.Your responsibilities include:Translating customer requirements into mechanical concepts and detailed designsCoordinating mechanical engineering activities throughout the project lifecycleActing as the technical interface between engineering, production, assembly, and suppliersMonitoring planning, budget, and technical risks during executionManaging engineering changes and ensuring feasibility on the shop floorSupporting testing, commissioning, and final technical handoverYour backgroundYou have a solid foundation in mechanical engineering and feel comfortable in a project-driven, industrial environment where standard solutions are rare.Typically, you bring:A degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experienceExperience within machine building, special machinery, or industrial equipmentStrong mechanical insight combined with a pragmatic, hands-on mindsetThe ability to keep overview while maintaining attention to technical detailClear communication skills and a collaborative way of workingYou are fluent in English; knowledge of Dutch is a strong advantage in the local context.The environmentOur client offers a technically rich engineering role within a stable and growing machine building company.
