Data Engineer (5 days/week)

Context:

The Data Analytics department is leading CM into its vision to become the leading data driven healthcare fund in Belgium. We offer expert guidance through every step of CM's data and analytics journey and build customized solutions on cutting-edge technologies and empower CM's business units with the insights necessary to drive innovation with data, optimize processes and achieve strategic goals. The Data Analytics team helps with data strategy and planning, advanced analytics, data governance, innovation workshops and tailormade solutions.

Data Analytics is a multidisciplinary team, delivering on the business intelligence and data science assignments. As a Reporting & Analytics Specialist you are responsible for transforming data into actionable insights, reports, dashboards, and analytical solutions that support operational, tactical, and strategic decision-making. Within this role you will work closely together with business stakeholders, data analysts, data scientists, product owners, architects, and other members of the Data Analytics organization.

Your role:

As a Data Engineer, you contribute to building the data platform of tomorrow and translate business needs into real data assets.

Your main responsibilities are:

Data Integration and Pipeline Development:

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines.
  • Ingest and integrate data from operational and external source systems into our different Data Platforms.
  • Build and automate ETL/ELT processes.
  • Monitor, optimize, and troubleshoot data processing workflows.
  • Documentation of data models and pipelines.

Data Quality & Reliability:

  • Ensure high standards of data quality, consistency, availability, and performance.
  • Implement monitoring, validation, and quality controls.
  • Investigate and resolve data-related incidents and issues.
  • Compliance with security, privacy, governance, and architectural standards.
  • Support continuous improvement of the data platform and associated processes.

Collaboration & Delivery:

  • Collaborate with Product Owners, Domain Experts, Data Analysts and Data Scientists in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Support reporting, analytics, self-service BI and AI initiatives.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to continuous improvement.
  • Actively share knowledge and promote best practices within the Data & Analytics community.

Your profile:

  • Bachelors/Master degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in data engineering, including data pipeline design, ETL processes, and data transformation activities.
  • Experience in DWH and architecture assets, on premise as within the cloud. Knowledge of AWS is a plus.
  • The ability to model data solutions (Kimball, DataVault,...)
  • Good understanding of databases and SQL as well as proven proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) and modern data engineering tools (e.g., DBT, Airflow,...).
  • Strong understanding of DevOps principles and practices with a focus on data-driven workflows.
  • Familiarity with continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset with excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Customer-focused and results-driven, a real team player with a continuous learning attitude.
