Project Manager & Grant Writer (Full-time)Location: BrusselsABOUT AXILES BIONICSAxiles Bionics is a Brussels-based spin-off from Brubotics (VUB), specializing in Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, and Biomechanics, striving to improve the quality of life with new bionic technologies. Our mission is to bring peace of mind and body to amputees with innovative bionic solutions and outstanding services.We are currently entering a phase of rapid growth, with a strong focus on initially managing projects for R&D but expanding quickly in sales, marketing & operations.We are looking for a Project Manager & Grant Writer who can help us to monitor project execution across our R&D, marketing, and company-wide initiatives using tools like JIRA, while securing and managing grand funding to support R&D and other strategic initiatives. ABOUT THE ROLEThis role is for those who enjoy bringing clarity and structure to complex projects and making a tangible impact on a growing organization. You will enable department managers to focus on their strategic responsibilities by ensuring teams stay aligned, streamlining project execution, and creating efficient workflows, while also helping secure the funding that drives innovation, making your contribution directly vital to the company's growth and mission.WHAT YOU WILL DOProject Management (50%)Coordinate and facilitate teams and management-level projects, ensuring project timelines and milestones are met by short, mid and long term planning. Maintain, structure, and clean JIRA boards and other project management tools, ensuring all documentation is accurately linked to corresponding work items in Jira.Monitor project progress and organise short, mid and long term planning to ensure clarity, consistency and task ownership. Collaborate with team leads to implement effective project workflows and resolve interdependencies without creating bottlenecks and escalating blockers when needed.Report to management on project advances while providing proactive support to ensure initiatives are completed on time and fully aligned with established departmental processes.Grant Writing & Reporting (50%)Work closely with the CTO, CFO and CEO to shape and execute our grant application strategy. Research, draft, and submit grant proposals for R&D, innovation, and other strategic initiatives at national and European level.Turn complex technical ideas into clear, compelling narratives tailored to grant requirements.Manage administrative and technical reporting obligations for ongoing grants, including deliverables, milestones and financials.Collaborate with external partners, grant agencies, and internal stakeholders to ensure successful submission and reporting throughout the grand process.Create and maintain internal tools and templates to streamline future grant applications.WHAT YOU BRINGYou have a Master's degree in Business Development, Business Engineering, Engineering or equivalent experience with a strong understanding of mechanics, electronics, and software, allowing you to engage confidently with technical teams.You bring 3–5 years of experience in project management and/or technical grant writing, ideally in a startup or scale-up environment.You are familiar with agile methodologies or similar and enjoy applying them to keep projects moving efficiently.You are proficient with project management tools, especially JIRA, and take pride in maintaining clear, structured boards.You are highly organized, thriving when coordinating sprints, monitoring timelines, and keeping documentation and task ownership transparent. You ensure teams and stakeholders are aligned, informed, and empowered to achieve project goals.You are self-starter, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously, while collaborating effectively across operational and leadership teams.You enjoy working autonomously but you are collaborative, able to take ownership of your work while actively engaging and supporting teams to achieve shared goals.You are an engaging communicator and storyteller, able to translate complex technical concepts into clear, compelling grant proposals and presentations.
