What You Will Do:Candidate is responsible for the safe, reliable, and cost-efficient technical management of vessel/s under him. Acting as the focal point for all matters concerning assigned ship/s, the role ensures full compliance with regulatory and company standards while maintaining each vessel's technical condition, machinery reliability, and energy efficiency within approved budgets. Working closely with the Operations and QHSE teams and supported by a Technical Officer or Purchaser, the Vessel Manager oversees maintenance planning, repairs, procurement, and reporting, providing leadership and technical guidance to onboard teams and representing the company in dealings with owners, auditors, and third parties. Besides day-to-day close monitoring of vessels, you will be required to supervise for dry-dockings and repairs, carry out vessel inspections, conduct technical investigations, ensure certification and documentation of vessels under your charge are up to date and meet international safety standards. You will also judiciously manage budgets allocated to vessels and review regular vessel account reports. You will be the key person and line of communication with vessels and onboard crew.Key ResponsibilitiesManage the technical operation of vessel/s, ensuring they are operated safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with international conventions, flag-state, class, and company requirementsPlan and oversee maintenance and repair activities, including dry-dockings, intermediate surveys, and major overhauls, ensuring work scopes, budgets, and timelines are properly defined and executedMonitor vessel condition and performance, including machinery reliability, fuel efficiency, and planned maintenance (PMS) compliance, initiating corrective actions where requiredConduct regular vessel inspections (typically 2 to 3 times a year ) to assess technical condition, verify safety and environmental standards, and follow up on corrective actions from audits or inspectionsPrepare, justify, and manage vessel budgets, tracking actual expenditures and ensuring cost control within owner-approved limits; escalate significant variances to the Fleet ManagerCoordinate procurement and logistics of spares, stores, and services through the assigned Technical Officer/Purchaser, ensuring timely and cost-effective supply chain support to vesselsEnsure statutory and class survey compliance, maintaining awareness of due dates for certificates, surveys, and dry-dockings, and ensuring required work is planned and completedClose coordination with terminals and commercial operators to maintain schedule integrity and minimize service disruptionSupport incident response and investigations, performing root-cause analysis and implementing preventive measures to improve fleet safety and reliabilityRepresent the company and owners' interests in vetting inspections, third-party audits, and pre-purchase or pre-takeover inspections as requiredProvide clear and regular reporting to owners and the Fleet Manager on vessel condition, performance, incidents, and ongoing projectsWork closely with the Operations and QHSE Managers, aligning technical, operational, and safety priorities for the assigned shipsMaintain strong relationships with master's and chief engineers, providing guidance, technical advice, and leadership to ensure onboard teams meet company expectationsMaintenance & ComplianceOversee planned maintenance systems and ensure timely execution of all maintenance.Ensure compliance with international maritime safety standards (ISM, SOLAS, MARPOL).Assist in developing, implementing, and monitoring environmental objectives, targets, and programs as per company's environmental management system.Budget & Cost ControlFinalize and manage vessels operational budgets.Monitor fuel consumption and implement cost-saving measures.Crew & Stakeholder CoordinationLiaise with crewing department for manning requirements.Act as the primary point of contact for technical and operational queries from vessels.Reporting & DocumentationMaintain accurate records of fleet performance, incidents, and maintenance.Prepare monthly operational reports for your line manager.What We Are Looking For:Qualifications & SkillsProven experience as a Chief engineer or Vessel Manager, with a solid background in the technical and operational management of vesselsDeep technical understanding of shipboard systems is essentialPractical experience in DP and offshore vessels, with knowledge of their specific maintenance, project management, and regulatory requirementsFamiliarity with SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM, ISPS, and other international conventions governing vessel safety, environmental protection, and operational complianceProficient in English, with strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with ship and shore-based teams.Core Competencies and AttributesHands-on and agile, able to provide technical and operational support during port calls, dry-dockings, and inspections as neededWilling and able to travel regularly - both domestically and internationally - to attend vessels, dry-dockings, and client meetings as part of routine management responsibilitiesStrong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a proactive and structured approach to vessel managementEffective collaborator who works cross-functionally with Operations, QHSE, and Crewing departments to achieve common goalsComposed and analytical under pressure, maintaining a solutions-oriented mindset in dynamic environments.PreferredPrevious experience in offshore / cable laying vessel management.Experience as DPO or DPVM.CV to Anne Thibault at thibaulta@angloeastern.com
