Enterprise / Technology Architect – Infrastructure & Cloud (Long-term Mission) Location: Antwerp, Belgium Start ASAP Full-time (50% remote) Languages: English required, Dutch is a plus About the RoleWe are looking for an experienced Enterprise / Technology Architect – Infrastructure & Cloud to join the Enterprise Architecture team of a large and complex organization in Antwerp.In this role, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and governance of robust, scalable, and secure IT infrastructures and technology platforms that support business processes. You will guide technical teams in solution design, advise on architectural decisions, and ensure consistent standards and documentation within your domain.You combine hands-on technical expertise with a strategic, high-level architectural vision, working closely with internal teams and stakeholders while contributing to the continuous optimization and modernization of the IT landscape. Key ResponsibilitiesInfrastructure Strategy & PlanningDefine and maintain infrastructure strategies and roadmaps aligned with IT and business objectivesDesign future-state architectures and investment plansTechnology Evaluation & SelectionAssess existing and emerging technologiesPerform proofs of concept (PoCs) and recommend solutions supporting operational efficiency and strategic goalsArchitecture Design & StandardizationDesign detailed infrastructure architectures (network, compute, storage, cloud, platforms, integration)Ensure compliance with standards, policies, and best practices (SOA, EDA, microservices, API-driven architectures)Documentation & Knowledge ManagementMaintain architecture documentation in enterprise repositories (Confluence, Wikis, LeanIX)Ensure knowledge transfer across teamsDisaster Recovery & Business ContinuitySupport the definition, testing, and maintenance of DRP and BC plansManage risks and ensure resilienceCloud Services ManagementDefine, manage, and optimize cloud strategySelect, deploy, and integrate cloud services with on-premise infrastructureEnsure security, compliance, and performanceStakeholder Collaboration & GovernanceParticipate in technical forums and architecture communitiesAdvise teams and stakeholders on architectural decisionsContribute to architecture governance processes Required ExpertiseTechnical SkillsDeep knowledge of enterprise infrastructure (network, compute, storage, cloud)Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and hybrid environmentsStrong understanding of networking and security technologies (firewalls, load balancers, VPN, IAM, Zero Trust)Experience with virtualization and container platforms (VMware, Hyper-V, Kubernetes, Docker)Design and implementation of disaster recovery, backup, and high-availability solutionsInfrastructure automation & DevOps practices (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, CI/CD pipelines)Knowledge of architecture frameworks and methodologies (TOGAF, ITIL)Understanding of modern architecture patterns (SOA, event-driven architectures, microservices, API-first)Strategic & Analytical SkillsAbility to develop long-term infrastructure strategies and capability roadmapsRisk analysis, mitigation, resilience, and continuity planningStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsCollaboration & Advisory SkillsWork closely with enterprise architects, business stakeholders, and cross-functional teamsInfluence decisions and build consensus on technology choicesCommunicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiencesContribute to architectural governance, standards, and best practices Profile7–12+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, including several years in senior engineering or architect rolesExperience in large, complex enterprise environments (preferably multi-site or global)Proven experience in cloud adoption and modernizationSolid background in disaster recovery and business continuity planning and testingExperience writing technical standards, reference architectures, and governance processes Personal SkillsIndependent, flexible, and able to perform under pressureProactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvementStrong team player with a collaborative attitudeCurious, eager to learn, and capable of strategic thinkingComfortable managing changing circumstances and multiple stakeholdersExcellent communication skills and strong relationship-building abilities
