• We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer.
• Client's Digital Products department is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to strengthen the Digital Products teams.
   
• The Digital Products department is the place where digital products take shape. In close cooperation with the various brands (Client Eén, Canvas, Ketnet, Sporza, Client NWS, Client MAX and our five radio brands) we develop new products; From websites to social media campaigns and mobile apps.?
   
• You will be working in an extremely dynamic environment where you will be responsible for the realisation of a highly developed digital offer that appeals to a large and broad audience on a daily basis. Based on your expertise, you will help build a high-quality digital portfolio for Client, in a context that is rapidly evolving.
   
• You have proven experience in designing, building and maintaining scalable backend services. You have a strong Java background, work smoothly in modern cloud and CI/CD environments and actively think about robust APIs, high-performance data flows and reliable integrations.
   
• You have experience with event-based architectures and can substantiate technical choices within a complex digital product environment. Experience with CQRS is a clear added value.

What are you doing with us?

• You are a member of a cross-functional agile team that wants to build a flawless media experience and contribute to the development of reliable, scalable and maintainable backend solutions. Together with your colleagues, you build digital products end-to-end, from analysis and design to implementation, monitoring and support in production. You actively help improve existing backend services, with a focus on performance, stability, security and scalability. Designing and implementing backend components, APIs and integrations within an event-based architecture. Collaborate with developers, architects, product owners and business stakeholders to align technical solutions with product objectives. Detect technical risks, propose improvements, and actively contribute to code quality, observability, and operational excellence. Setting up and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, automatic checks and technical quality standards. Coaching colleagues and sharing backend expertise within and outside the team.

Who are you?

• You can translate technical choices into robust back-end architecture, taking into account scalability, maintainability, security and operational reliability. You translate product needs and stories into clear technical implementations and think along about API contracts, data models and integration patterns. You will identify technical trends, risks and opportunities for improvement in the areas of back-end development, event-based architectures and cloud-native engineering. You write high-quality, well-tested code and take responsibility for solutions from design to production. You take the lead in technical improvements and lead the team in engineering best practices, pragmatic documentation and knowledge sharing. You preferably have experience in a digital product environment or media sector. You communicate fluently with technical and non-technical stakeholders and can clearly explain complex technical topics. Furthermore, you have demonstrable experience in:?
   
• Backend engineering in an agile environment (8 years) Java development (8 years) NodeJS / Typescript development (5 years) Event-based architectures (5 years) API design and integration patterns (5 years) CI/CD, monitoring and operational support of backend services (3 years) Atlassian Suite (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, ...) (3 years) CQRS experience preferably Go experience or interest is a plus
