RELYzIT Talent is seeking a SCADA Engineer for a high-impact, freelance assignment with our client, driving the digital transformation of critical energy infrastructure. As a SCADA Engineer, you will be pivotal in ensuring seamless operational continuity, robust cybersecurity, and the successful migration to a next-generation platform. Your work will safeguard critical infrastructure and empower teams across the organization.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Oversee the daily operations of the current SCADA system, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and availability.
• Monitor system health, detect anomalies, and coordinate rapid corrective actions to maintain operational standards.
• Manage updates, patches, minor enhancements, and respond to user requests to ensure system integrity.
• Prepare and actively participate in technical testing, migration, and commissioning of the new SCADA platform.
• Verify databases, images, and configurations for data consistency and quality during migration.
• Validate functionalities, alarms, communications, and operator interfaces to guarantee seamless integration.
• Support troubleshooting and resolution of technical issues during the transition phase.
• Analyze, consolidate, and control the quality of SCADA data from diverse operational sources.
• Ensure all deliverables meet stringent reliability, safety, and performance standards.
• Contribute to comprehensive documentation of configurations, procedures, and test outcomes.
• Act as the technical point of contact for SCADA suppliers and integrators, fostering strong external partnerships.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity and infrastructure teams to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
• Provide expert technical support to internal users, including dispatch, field teams, and technicians.
• Contribute to user training initiatives and the development of educational materials.
• Engage in cross-functional projects advancing network digitalization and innovation.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience with SCADA systems in operational environments, ideally within the energy, automation, or control systems sectors.
• Strong analytical skills with a focus on data quality, system reliability, and cybersecurity.

• Proactive communicator, able to translate technical insights into actionable outcomes for diverse stakeholders.
• Adaptable and resilient, comfortable navigating complex technical migrations and evolving project requirements.

Technical Skills & Requirements

• Proven experience with SCADA systems (Must have)
• Background in the energy sector, automation, or control systems (Must have, Junior level accepted)
• Engineering degree or equivalent experience in electromechanical, IT, or electronics (Must have)
• Excellent command of MS Office suite (Must have)
• Knowledge of OT/ICS cybersecurity principles (Should have)
• Familiarity with industrial communication protocols such as IEC 60870-5-104, DNP3, Modbus (Should have)
• Experience with LYNX solution (Should have)
• Project management skills or experience in complex technical projects (Nice to have)
• Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and external suppliers (Nice to have)

Language Proficiency

• French: C2 level (Must have)
• English: Strong technical understanding, both written and spoken (Must have)
• Excellent communication skills in both languages (Must have)

• This is a freelance position for a 14-month project based in Liège, Belgium.
