As a Senior PostgreSQL & AI Data Platform Engineer, you will be instrumental in building and optimizing the data infrastructure that underpins AI-driven applications, including generative AI, RAG, and machine learning. Your work will directly enable safe, scalable, and high-performing AI solutions that support critical operational and support functions.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Designing, managing, and optimizing PostgreSQL database platforms to support both traditional and AI-powered applications.
• Installing, configuring, and maintaining robust database clusters, ensuring high availability and business continuity.
• Implementing and monitoring high-availability solutions, including replication, clustering, and fail-over strategies.
• Optimizing queries and indexes for peak performance and minimal latency, especially for AI and LLM workloads.
• Configuring and supporting vector databases (pgvector) and integrating them into AI data platforms and RAG architectures.
• Developing and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines to ensure seamless data flow and integrity across platforms.
• Integrating databases with REST APIs and OpenAPI specifications for scalable, secure data access.
• Collaborating closely with data scientists, architects, and DevOps engineers in a multidisciplinary environment.
• Ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and security requirements, embedding governance from the start.
• Championing a culture of continuous improvement, clear communication, and technical excellence.

What We’re Looking For

• Proven expertise in PostgreSQL administration, optimization, and high-availability architectures.
• Hands-on experience with AI data platforms, vector databases (pgvector), and supporting LLM/RAG workloads.
• Advanced skills in ETL/ELT processes, data engineering, and scripting (Python, Bash).
• Strong integration experience with REST APIs and OpenAPI standards.
• Ability to translate complex business challenges into robust, scalable technical solutions.
• Clear communicator, comfortable engaging with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Continuous improvement mindset, open to feedback and new ideas.
• Team player with a collaborative spirit, eager to work alongside diverse profiles.
• Technological curiosity and a passion for applied AI and data-driven innovation.

Other Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, AI, or equivalent experience
• Open to non-traditional backgrounds (career changers, self-taught, open source contributors) with demonstrable impact
• First-hand experience developing applications integrating AI
• Strong attention to detail, code quality, and awareness of AI performance (latency, scalability)
• Ability to work on-site in Belgium at least 2 days per week; remote work authorized within Belgium
• Multidisciplinary team environment with internal and external collaborators
• Start date: ASAP | Duration: 3 months (with possible extension)
