RELYzIT Talent is seeking a Senior AI Engineer for a high-impact freelance mission with our client, a leading innovator in digital transformation. You’ll join a team at the forefront of AI-driven services, shaping solutions that directly impact both employees and customers. As a Senior AI Engineer, you will be instrumental in building and operationalizing Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) applications, ensuring these services are secure, maintainable, and deliver measurable value. Your work will directly influence the success of AI adoption, driving innovation and operational excellence across the organization.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Designing and implementing end-to-end RAG pipelines, from retrieval strategies to answer generation, ensuring high-quality, contextually relevant outputs.
• Building and optimizing ingestion pipelines: developing connectors to source platforms, managing data chunking, embedding, and incremental refresh processes.
• Implementing security trimming and ACL propagation to ensure data privacy and compliance.
• Orchestrating AI agents, crafting prompt templates, and establishing robust guardrails for safe and reliable AI interactions.
• Setting up comprehensive evaluation and tracing frameworks: creating offline evaluation sets, defining retrieval and answer-quality metrics, and enabling end-to-end request and agent step tracing.
• Developing and maintaining Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using Terraform, Helm, and Azure DevOps pipelines for seamless deployment and operation of AI services.
• Instrumenting observability and cost control: monitoring latency, token consumption, run costs, and detecting quality regressions post-model or prompt updates.
• Leading hypercare and early production phases: analyzing incidents, tuning systems, creating runbooks and documentation, and ensuring smooth handover to operational teams.
• Collaborating closely with internal architects, engineers, and project teams to deliver solutions that are robust, scalable, and future-proof.

• Proven expertise in building and deploying AI/ML solutions, with a strong focus on RAG architectures and LLM-based applications.
• Hands-on experience with hybrid cloud environments, particularly Azure managed services and Kubernetes (AKS).
• Ownership mindset: you take initiative, drive outcomes, and thrive in environments where your impact is visible and valued.
• Problem-solving orientation: you approach challenges analytically, design for scale and maintainability, and proactively address risks.

• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Helm) and CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps).
• Familiarity with agent orchestration frameworks (e.g., LangChain) and open-source AI components.
• Strong documentation and knowledge transfer skills for effective handover and operational continuity.
• Availability for partial on-site presence in Brussels, with remote flexibility.
• Freelance contract for an initial duration of 4 weeks, with potential for extension based on project needs.
