Senior Application Manager

About the Role

Within Digital Services, the Global Applications YGP & YIS unit develops and maintains digital solutions supporting areas such as HESQ, production operations, plant maintenance, engineering and on-site logistics.

We are looking for a Senior Application Manager specialising in SAP Product Compliance to support the team while some other consultants are focusing on client’s brownfield conversion from SAP ECC6 to SAP S/4HANA.

While the current Application Manager focuses primarily on the S/4HANA conversion, you will take ownership of a significant part of the Business-as-Usual activities and support several Product Compliance initiatives. You will work closely with the current Application Manager, who will delegate responsibilities and provide guidance on priorities.

This is a functional application management position.

You will work partially on SAP Product Compliance and partially will do the application management for other internal applications (non-SAP). Meaning the consultant needs to be open to also work on non-SAP products, however SAP Product Compliance expertise is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Act as a functional expert and bridge between the Product Compliance business team, SAP delivery teams and other internal IT stakeholders.
• Take ownership of day-to-day application management and BAU activities within the SAP Product Compliance landscape.
• Gather and analyse business requirements and translate them into clear functional requirements for SAP and related applications.
• Support Product Compliance projects requiring integrations with SAP, including functional design, coordination, testing and business validation.
• Support improvements to a custom SAP Fiori application used for compliance with the Fertilising Products Regulation, translating business needs into SAP-oriented functional requirements.
• Coordinate the work delivered by the external SAP application management provider, including assigning activities, following up on delivery and validating the quality of the work.
• Work with the external provider on incidents, support requests, changes and service fulfilment, acting as a senior functional escalation point when required. 
• Plan and execute functional changes through BAU releases and projects, including testing, quality control and documentation. 
• Support the management of connected satellite applications within the Product Compliance ecosystem, such as EcoPortal, Sphera and OCC.
• Coordinate application maintenance activities, including upgrades, patching and the remediation of cybersecurity vulnerabilities. 
• Work with business stakeholders to improve solution adoption, standardise processes and identify opportunities for continuous improvement. 
• Contribute functional expertise to the SAP S/4HANA conversion and future projects following the conversion.
• Support change management activities and, where required, explain solutions or provide training to users. 

Project financial management and overall programme ownership will remain with the current Application Manager. The main focus of this role is functional application ownership, BAU continuity and delivery coordination.

Required Experience and Skills:

• Strong experience working with SAP in a functional analyst, application manager or comparable functional role.
• Practical knowledge of SAP Product Compliance, SAP EHS or closely related SAP HSE/HESQ processes.
• Experience managing SAP applications in a Business-as-Usual or application support environment.
• Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into SAP functional requirements.
• Experience coordinating functional changes, integrations, testing and business validation.
• Experience working with external SAP delivery or application management providers.
• Ability to review, challenge and validate work delivered by third-party suppliers.
• Understanding of application lifecycle management, incident management, change management and release processes.
• Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder-management skills.
• Knowledge of ServiceNow, particularly Non-Standard Service Requests and service-offering or user-access processes.
• Ability to work independently, structure priorities and take ownership of delegated responsibilities.
• Professional fluency in English.

Nice to Have

• Experience with SAP S/4HANA conversion or brownfield migration projects.
• Experience with SAP Fiori applications.
• Familiarity with Product Compliance regulations, including the Fertilising Products Regulation.
• Experience with non-SAP HSE or Product Compliance applications.
• Familiarity with SAP ChaRM and controlled SAP change processes.
• Knowledge of ITIL, outsourced service delivery or project delivery. 
• Experience working with distributed or offshore SAP support teams.
