Senior Netwerk Engineer

• Client is a logistics service provider in the port of Antwerp, specialising in the storage and handling of goods for international customers. We have specialised warehouses on both the right and left banks with a total surface area of more than 1,000,000 m². As a Senior Network Engineer, you will be part of our IT department and will work at our headquarters in the center of Antwerp.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

• Within the team, you are the point of contact for the network: from the core and access switches in the offices and warehouses to the firewalls, WiFi coverage and the connectivity between our sites.
• You manage, monitor and optimize this environment, and you participate in projects such as innovations, extensions and migrations.
• Operational management of the network infrastructure: switching, routing, firewalling, WiFi and VPN.
• Follow-up of incidents and changes, including root cause analysis and structural solutions.
• Monitoring documentation, configuration standards, and network security.
• Executing and supervising projects: from preparation and planning to implementation and delivery.
• Coaching a junior colleague: you take him or her step by step through the network matter and make knowledge transfer a regular habit.

• In the context of NIS2, monitoring network security: segmentation, firewall policy, access management and hardening.
• Your tasks do not stop at the edge of the network. You actively follow the market for new trends to help build the roadmap. Depending on the needs of the organization, you will join in broader support for the operational teams on the shop floor.
• Because our operation also takes place outside traditional office hours, you are prepared to carry out occasional maintenance, upgrades and interventions early in the morning, in the evening or at the weekend. Interventions are planned in advance and agreed upon in consultation with the team.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

• You have extensive experience as a network engineer and you know what you are talking about. You build your advice on experience, research and consultation with your colleagues, not on assumptions. In addition, you like to pass on your knowledge and have the patience to let a junior colleague grow instead of taking over the work yourself.

You also have:

• Experience with Cisco network equipment is a must, as is proven experience in network operations management. Experience with Palo Alto firewalls is a plus.
• Knowledge of or experience with information security standards such as ISO 27001 or regulations such as NIS2 is a plus.
• A structured operation: you document, plan your work and keep an overview, even when several things are running at the same time.
• A pragmatic and calm attitude. In the event of a malfunction, you do not lose your cool and proceed methodically.
• A professional and clear communication style, also towards senior management: you translate technology into understandable language, impact and options. This in Dutch, but also English is a must.
• A flexible attitude and therefore tackles what is needed, even if it falls outside your strict specialization.
• Knowledge of or experience in a warehouse, transport or logistics environment is a plus.
• A B driving licence, to be able to travel to the various sites and headquarters spread across the Port of Antwerp.
