RELYzIT Talent is seeking a Data Quality Engineer (Medior) for an 11-month freelance assignment with our client in Mechelen, Belgium. Your work will ensure that data related to stops, lines, and trips is accurate, actionable, and trusted—fueling the organization’s journey toward a truly data-driven future.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Develop deep business knowledge of the data you work with, understanding both technical and contextual aspects.
• Design, develop, and maintain data quality pipelines for the organization’s most critical data assets.
• Visualize data errors and quality issues, making them actionable for data stewards and producers.
• Consult with data stewards to define and refine data quality requirements.
• Translate functional quality requirements into robust technical quality rules.
• Implement quality rules within data pipelines and monitoring processes to ensure ongoing data integrity.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to identify and prioritize data quality needs, proactively proposing improvements.
• Contribute to the evolution of a scalable, future-proof data quality program.
• Work closely with IT, data teams, data governance, and business units to drive data quality initiatives forward.

Technical Skills & Experience

• Minimum 3 years of demonstrable experience with Python and/or SQL.
• Proven experience as a Data Engineer (mid-level).
• Hands-on experience in an Azure environment.
• Experience with data quality tools such as Unity Catalog or SODA.
• Strong background in data quality, data management, and data governance.
• Experience using Databricks as an exploration tool.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala for developing data streams and ETL processes.
• Demonstrable experience in designing and implementing Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes.
• Experience with databases and data quality frameworks.
• Experience with Power BI as a visualization tool.

Language Proficiency

• Fluency in Dutch at European CEFR level C2 is required.

Other Requirements

• Experience working with modern data environments and tools, including Azure Databricks (Unity Catalog), Azure Function Apps, Container Apps, Event Hubs, Data Factory, Apache Spark, SQL, Python, Data contracts, SODA data quality framework, Power BI, and Power Query.
• Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and contribute to a collaborative, builder-first culture.
