Could you be the full-time ATC System Designer in Charleroi we’re looking for?

Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your system engineering expertise in a cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside collaborative and forward-thinking teammates.

You'll help shape the future of safe and efficient train movements by designing and optimizing Automatic Train Control (ATC) systems. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (such as Verification and Validation teams, project deployment teams, and other engineering functions), lead design reviews, and ensure the ATC system is ready for testing, among other responsibilities.

You’ll specifically take care of developing ATC system architecture (trackside and trainborne) and allocating requirements, but also investigating test failures and proposing corrective actions.

We’ll look to you for:

  • Designing ATC systems and providing related documentation (e.g., specifications, architectures, interfaces).
  • Leading ATC design reviews and ensuring alignment with project goals.
  • Ensuring ATC configurations (application data or coding) are completed and ready for testing.
  • Collaborating with Verification and Validation teams to address test outcomes.
  • Defining and assessing interfaces within the ATC system.
  • Balancing technical risks and evaluating design trade-offs.

All about you

We value passion and attitude over experience. That’s why we don’t expect you to have every single skill. Instead, we’ve listed some that we think will help you succeed and grow in this role:

  • Degree in System Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience or understanding of system specification and requirements development.
  • Knowledge of Automatic Train Control (ATC) systems, including trackside and trainborne components.
  • Familiarity with defect analysis and proposing corrective solutions.
  • A strong understanding of software engineering methods and tools for configuring ATC software.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work transversally with engineering teams, demonstrating autonomy and coordination skills.
