We are looking for an experienced Database Engineer to support the European Commission in Geel, Belgium. The successful candidate will bring strong database development expertise, particularly in Oracle PL/SQL, combined with hands-on experience in Jasper Reports.
The Database Engineer will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimising database solutions and reporting components, while ensuring reliability, performance, and maintainability within a professional enterprise environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, maintain, and optimise database solutions.
- Develop and maintain PL/SQL procedures, functions, packages, triggers, and queries.
- Analyse and troubleshoot database-related issues and implement appropriate solutions.
- Perform database performance analysis and query optimisation.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance reports using Jasper Reports.
- Support the integration of database and reporting components with existing applications and systems.
- Contribute to technical documentation, testing, deployment, and maintenance activities.
- Work closely with developers, analysts, and other technical stakeholders.
- Follow European Commission development, security, quality, and documentation standards.
Requirements
Candidates must demonstrate:
- At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in database engineering, database development, or a closely related technical role.
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience with PL/SQL.
- At least 3 years of professional experience with Jasper Reports.
Technical Profile
The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of:
- Oracle databases

- Database performance optimisation
- Data analysis and troubleshooting
