Join RELYzIT Talent as a Medior AWS DevOps Engineer for a high-impact, freelance assignment with our client in Brussels, Belgium. As a Medior AWS DevOps Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in expanding and optimizing this platform, ensuring secure, scalable, and reliable infrastructure for the most ambitious public sector projects in Flanders. Your work will directly impact how governments, citizens, and businesses interact and thrive in a digital-first world.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Design, develop, and operate AWS workloads within a central hub-spoke architecture, supporting the digital transformation of government services.
• Advance the automation of CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub and Azure DevOps Pipelines, ensuring seamless and secure deployments.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for platform components, driving efficiency and repeatability.
• Collaborate with the Platform Engineering team to deliver and enhance central components: network architecture, DNS, logging, monitoring, deploy-API, and more.
• Guide project teams in onboarding new workloads (spokes) and integrating them with the central AWS hub.
• Implement and enforce security best practices using AWS Control Tower, SCP, Security Hub, GuardDuty, IAM, Identity Center, and Inspector.
• Manage and optimize container orchestration systems such as ECS Fargate, Kubernetes, or Docker.
• Ensure compliance with the Government Information Classification Framework (ICR) and support secure data management practices.
• Administer databases including PostgreSQL, MSSQL, or MongoDB as required by platform workloads.
• Document and share knowledge, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.

• Experience level: Medior (3+ years relevant experience in AWS DevOps roles).

Technical Skills

• Demonstrable experience with AWS (Medior level, must have).
• Hands-on experience automating CI/CD processes (e.g., GitHub, Azure DevOps Pipelines) (Medior, must have).
• Proficiency in Python for automation and scripting (Medior, must have).
• Practical experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) (Medior, must have).
• Experience with AWS CLI (Medior, should have).
• Experience managing container orchestration systems (ECS Fargate, Kubernetes, Docker) (Junior, should have).
• Experience with Azure DevOps (Medior, should have).
• Experience with AWS Control Tower, SCP, Security Hub, GuardDuty, IAM, Identity Center, or Inspector (Medior, should have).
• Knowledge of PostgreSQL, MSSQL, or MongoDB administration (should have).
• Experience implementing solutions according to the Government Information Classification Framework (ICR) (Medior, should have).
• Demonstrated experience setting up and maintaining a central hosting platform within a hub-spoke architecture, including description of essential central components and years of experience (must have).

Language Proficiency

• Fluency in Dutch at European CEFR level C2 (must have).

Other Requirements

• Higher education (Master or Bachelor) in a technical/engineering field, or equivalent experience with relevant ICT technology (should have).
• Signed NDA document to be uploaded (must have).
• Demonstrable experience within the Flemish government (Medior, should have).
• Experience working in Agile and DevOps cultures (Medior, should have).
