About the Role

RELYzIT Talent is seeking a Senior Developer (Java/Angular) for a high-impact freelance assignment with our client, a central player in the digital transformation of the Belgian public sector. You will join a mission-critical program focused on modernizing digital services for children, families, and healthcare professionals. Your work will directly shape the future of public digital infrastructure, ensuring essential services are accessible, secure, and innovative.

This is a freelance position based in Brussels, Belgium, with a hybrid work model (minimum 50% on-site). The assignment runs from mid-November 2026 to end of 2027.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Design and develop robust application components using Java (Backend) and Angular (Frontend), ensuring alignment with architectural and technical standards.
• Collaborate closely with functional analysts, testers, and fellow developers in an Agile/SCRUM environment to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions.
• Drive the evolution and maintenance of key applications, including digital child files, prenatal care systems, and next-generation vaccination management platforms.
• Implement best practices in Clean Code, unit and integration testing, and continuous integration/deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
• Refactor and enhance existing codebases to improve readability, maintainability, and performance.
• Participate in code reviews, technical design sessions, and SCRUM ceremonies, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.
• Ensure rigorous documentation and knowledge sharing within the team.
• Support deployment processes, validate solution delivery, and uphold project delivery standards.
• Identify and address technical risks, dependencies, and opportunities for innovation.
• Contribute to technical debt reduction through refactoring, library upgrades, and process optimization.
• Communicate proactively with team leads and stakeholders, sharing insights and raising points of attention as needed.

Technical Skills & Experience

• Confirmed expertise in Angular 21 and Angular Material
• Strong proficiency in Java (Java 8, Java 21), JEE7, Spring, Spring Boot, and JPA
• Hands-on experience with DB2 and MySQL databases
• Proven track record with CI/CD deployment tools (Docker, Git/GitLab CI/CD, Maven, Nexus)
• Experience with Flyway for database migrations
• Familiarity with IndexedDB, Dexie, and Service Worker (junior level)
• Solid understanding of REST APIs and OpenAPI specifications
• Competence in unit and integration testing frameworks (JUnit, Mockito)
• Experience working in Agile/SCRUM teams

Language Proficiency

• Fluency in French is mandatory (all project activities and documentation are conducted in French)
