About the Role

RELYzIT Talent is seeking an Expert Front End Engineer (specialized in Angular 2+ and Rust) to join our client’s ambitious digital transformation program. This is a freelance position with a multi-year project horizon, offering you the opportunity to shape the future of digital services that have a direct societal impact. You’ll join a high-caliber team of builders, working on the modernization of mission-critical systems, where your expertise will drive real change and innovation.

As a Lead Front End Engineer, you will architect and deliver robust web portals and applications that empower users and streamline complex processes. Your leadership and technical vision will be pivotal in ensuring the success of a program that impacts thousands of lives, setting new standards for digital excellence in the public sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and drive the front-end architecture and technical direction in close collaboration with the architecture team.
  • Design scalable, maintainable, and secure front-end solutions, including component libraries, state management, and build pipelines.
  • Lead and mentor a team of front-end developers, ensuring high-quality code, best practices, and continuous growth.
  • Bridge communication between technical and non-technical stakeholders, collaborating with UX architects and solution engineers to deliver performant, feasible solutions to production.
  • Develop modern, responsive, and seamless user interfaces using Angular 2+ and integrate RESTful services for optimal user experience.
  • Build and maintain desktop applications leveraging the Rust programming language.
  • Translate wireframes and prototypes into well-structured, semantic, and reusable code, implementing the latest front-end technologies and best practices.
  • Define and develop APIs, process data streams, and manage application state efficiently.
  • Implement and optimize CI/CD pipelines, preferably within Azure DevOps, to ensure smooth and reliable deployments.
  • Collaborate actively within agile delivery teams, contributing to continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends, continuously updating your knowledge and skills in front-end development.
  • Assess and discuss architecture and data models with colleagues and stakeholders, providing recommendations and alternative solutions as needed.
  • Promote team spirit by being present in the office at least three days per week (partial remote possible).

Technical Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience in front-end web application development (web portals/web shops; website-only experience is not relevant).
  • At least 6 years of full-time front-end development in the last 10 years (if full-stack background).
  • 5+ years leading/managing front-end development teams.
  • 5+ years as a front-end architect (design and architecture of front-end solutions).
  • 5+ years developing with Angular 2+ framework.
  • 5+ years developing web portals using Angular 2+ or web portal technology.
  • 5+ years defining and developing APIs, as well as accessing/consuming APIs in front-end.
  • 5+ years developing and optimizing library components of a Design System.
  • 5+ years working within agile delivery teams.
  • 5+ years of cloud-native front-end application development.
  • 3+ years implementing and optimizing CI/CD pipelines (preferably Azure DevOps).
  • 1+ year developing desktop applications.
  • 1+ year hands-on experience with Rust programming language.
  • Experience with integrating RESTful services and microservices into front-end applications.
  • Proficiency in translating UX/UI designs into production-ready code.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive and independent mindset.
  • Experience collaborating with UX/UI designers and providing feedback on design feasibility and optimization.

Language Proficiency

  • Excellent command of English (written and spoken).
  • Good knowledge of either Dutch or French (written and spoken) is required due to the bilingual work environment.

Other Requirements & Added Value

  • Preferably a higher education degree in Information Technology or Computer Science from an accredited EU institution (diploma required with CV).
  • Continuous learning mindset, staying updated on sustainable trends and innovations in front-end development.
  • Knowledge of Event Driven and/or Behavioral Driven Development is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Domain Driven Design is a plus.
  • Familiarity with existing building blocks and services within the federal government context is an advantage.
  • Ability to propose alternative solutions and formulate recommendations, considering the full project context.
  • Strong communication skills, able to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Motivation to contribute to impactful public sector projects and align with the mission of digital transformation.
  • Willingness to work on-site in Brussels at least three days per week to foster team collaboration (partial remote possible).
