Role Name: Senior Angular Front-End Developer (Freelance)
Location: Brussels
Duration: 12 Months
Response Deadline: 31/07/2025
Workload: Full-time
Language Requirement: Dutch or French (native level) + good knowledge of the other national language + English
Context:
The VSSE (Belgian State Security Service) is responsible for safeguarding national security and preventing threats. Working in this environment has a significant societal impact and requires the highest level of discretion and trust.
Responsibilities:
- Develop new front-end applications
- Support the full software development lifecycle
- Improve and maintain existing front-end applications
- Act as a point of contact for junior developers
- Enforce security and quality standards
- Deliver high-quality, maintainable, and scalable code
- Provide technical documentation and participate in knowledge sharing
- Monitor technical evolution and contribute to front-end architecture and standards
Required Skills and Expertise:
Must Have:
- Minimum 10 years of professional experience in front-end development
- Proven expertise in Angular development
- Strong command of:
- HTML, CSS, TypeScript, AJAX
- REST APIs, Microservices, JSON
- Git, GitLab CI/CD, Docker, Maven, IntelliJ
- SQL, NoSQL, ElasticSearch, data modeling
- Jira, Agile methodologies
- Ability to deliver technical documentation and support testing
- Familiar with infrastructure concepts (VMware, Linux, OpenShift)
Soft Skills:
- Excellent communicator and team player
- Able to take ownership and mentor others
- Security-minded and compliance-oriented
- Adaptable to a highly secure, sensitive work environment
Additional Requirements:
- Must hold Belgian nationality
- Must possess or be willing to obtain a Top Secret security clearance
- Full-time onsite presence in Brussels is mandatory
- Office is near Brussels North Station, with flexible working hours
