Job Description
The Senior Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, administration, and continuous improvement of the company’s IT infrastructure.
This role ensures the availability, security, and performance of server and cloud environments, supporting the operational needs of a telecom and networking organization.
The position covers Windows and Linux servers, virtualization platforms, networking, and Microsoft 365 services (SharePoint, Microsoft Entra ID, and Microsoft Teams).
Approximately 15% of the role is dedicated to Level 2 support, assisting the Service Desk with infrastructure-related incidents. The role also requires the ability to drive activities in project mode and actively contribute to infrastructure initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure AdministrationManage and maintain Windows Server and Linux environmentsAdminister and monitor virtualization platforms (VMware, Proxmox, or equivalent)Ensure system availability, performance, patching, and lifecycle managementManage backup, monitoring, and disaster recovery processes (e.g., Veeam)Maintain certificate management and enforce security standardsManage network infrastructure (LAN, WLAN, user VPNs)Cloud & Collaboration PlatformsAdminister Microsoft 365 services, including:SharePoint OnlineMicrosoft TeamsMicrosoft Entra IDManage Identity & Access Management and related security controlsSupport integration between on-premises infrastructure and cloud platformsAdminister Mobile Device Management (MDM) solutions (e.g., Intune)Manage container environments (e.g., Docker)Infrastructure ProjectsContribute to the design and implementation of infrastructure projectsParticipate in cloud adoption and infrastructure modernization initiativesPrepare and maintain technical and architectural documentationCoordinate with other ICT teams for infrastructure deployments and changesOperational SupportProvide Level 2 support (~15% of workload) for infrastructure-related incidentsAssist the Service Desk with incident resolution and root cause analysisContribute to continuous improvement of infrastructure operationsEnsure daily backup and availability checks QualificationsTechnical SkillsStrong expertise in Windows Server administration (including Active Directory)Strong expertise in Linux system administrationExperience with virtualization platforms (VMware, Proxmox)Knowledge of the Microsoft 365 ecosystem (SharePoint, Teams, Entra ID)Understanding of identity management, security practices, and certificate managementExperience with scripting and automation (PowerShell, Python)Knowledge of storage systems (SAN, NAS)Professional SkillsStrong problem-solving and troubleshooting skillsAbility to work effectively in remote and international teamsExperience in managing and driving infrastructure projectsStrong documentation and communication skillsAbility to collaborate within cross-functional IT teamsProactive, autonomous, and curious mindsetExperience and EducationDegree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience)Minimum of 5 years’ experience in system administration or infrastructure engineeringExperience in enterprise or telecom environments is a plusLanguagesFluent in EnglishGood command of Dutch (Flemish)Knowledge of French is an assetAdditional InformationAll our positions are open to both women and men and are, of course, open to people with disabilities.
