Overview
As a Lifting Manager at Linesight, you will work directly with the Construction Manager and subcontractors, ensuring all lifting operations are properly planned, coordinated, and executed. You will be accountable for overseeing lifting strategies, crane operations, and rigging plans, ensuring all work is delivered in strict compliance with contract documents. This role focuses on managing lifting logistics and critical lift activities for a complex data centre project within a client-side PMC structure, from design through to commissioning.
The Opportunity
As Lifting Director, you will provide overall leadership for all lifting operations on the project, ensuring activities are planned, coordinated, and executed safely in line with requirements.
• Serve as the lead for all lifting operations, driving safe and compliant project delivery.
• Lead the planning, review, and approval of lift plans, RAMS, and lifting methodologies for routine, critical, and high-risk lifts.
• Oversee crane operations, rigging activities, heavy transport, and lifting strategies across the project.
• Assess and verify the competence, qualifications, and certifications of lifting personnel, including Crane Managers, Appointed Persons, and Lift Supervisors.
• Coordinate lifting activities with construction works, logistics teams, contractors, and other site stakeholders to ensure safe and effective execution.
• Manage complex and simultaneous lifting operations, ensuring exclusion zones, lifting corridors, and site controls are maintained.
• Ensure cranes, lifting equipment, accessories, and supporting infrastructure are fit for purpose, properly certified, and compliant with project standards.
• Review crane locations, ground conditions, outrigger loading, and lifting configurations to mitigate operational risks.
• Conduct audits and oversight of lifting activities, ensuring compliance with approved procedures, client standards, and statutory regulations.
• Authorise lifting deviations where appropriate, intervene in unsafe situations, and exercise stop-work authority when required.
• Establish clear lines of communication and accountability across lifting teams, ensuring all personnel understand roles, responsibilities, and emergency procedures.
• Lead lifting coordination meetings and provide expert technical guidance to project leadership, clients, contractors, and specialist lifting teams. We would love to hear from you if you:
• Have +10years’ experience as a Lifting Manager, Lifting Supervisor, or Lifting Director on large-scale construction projects.
• Have proven experience delivering complex lifting operations on 5+ ground-up data centres or other technically intensive facilities.
• Possess deep expertise in crane operations, rigging plans, heavy lifts, and coordinating subcontractors within hyperscale data centre environments.
• Can demonstrate experience and provide references from large data centre projects, ideally with hyperscale clients.
• Have a strong ability to build positive, productive relationships with client teams, vendors, and subcontractors.
• Thrive in fast-paced environments and can make safe, strategic decisions quickly under pressure.
• Hold a degree in engineering or a related field (preferred).
• Have strong technical knowledge of engineering drawings, lift plans, load calculations, crane charts, and specifications related to lifting operations.
• Are computer literate, with solid experience using Excel, Word, and other planning or engineering tools.
• Have excellent English communication, coordination, and organizational skills. #LI-LH1
