YOUR TASKS
• At least 70% of your assignment will be spent on academic research. The research focusses on applications of speech recognition and paralinguistics for medical and education purposes.
• You will assist in teaching activities at the Bachelor’s or Master’s level (note: good knowledge of Dutch is an strong plus).
• You will counsel Master’s students in their exercises, work placement and Master’s dissertation.
• You will counsel doctoral students.
• You will assist with managing projects and applying for new projects. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
• You hold a doctoral degree (preferably Doctor of Computer Science Engineering, or an equivalent degree). The degree requirement needs to be fulfilled at the start of your appointment. For diplomas awarded outside the European Union, a certificate of equivalence (NARIC) must be submitted.
• You have extensive research experience in the field of speech and audio processing, with specific expertise in automatic speech recognition and paralinguistics.
• During you doctoral studies, you have distinguished yourself as a promising and independent researcher.
• You have a strong interest in student supervision and mentoring within the Bachelor’s, Master’s and/or Advanced Master’s programmes.
• You can demonstrate a strong publication record through relevant scientific publications in national and international peer-reviewed journals with broad visibility and impact
• You possess strong teaching skills or demonstrate a clear affinity for education and knowledge transfer WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU

We offer
you a temporary appointment for a period of 1 year. The appointment cannot be renewed. Even if you have already been appointed earlier (whether or not at another university and whether or not in the same field of discipline) in a first term of up to 3 years, you can apply. The second appointment does not have to be immediately connected to a first term.
• Your appointment will start on 1 November 2026 at the earliest.
• Your remuneration will be determined according to salary scale AAP5. More information about our salary scales.
