Key responsibilities
Do you have a keen interest in working in a legal department? Do you have a background or desire to learn more about preparing, drafting, reviewing and negotiating simple contracts such as engagement letters or non-disclosure agreements? We are looking for someone to:
• Review and negotiate or assist with the negotiation of engagement letters and non-disclosure agreements in English and Chinese
• Prepare, review and assist with documentation relating to equity capital markets transactions, such as IPO ancillary documents, placing agreements, investor representation letters, disclaimers and case studies
• Prepare, review and assist with documentation relating to MTN (Medium Term Note) programmes or other securitized products
• Review Chinese versions of legal documentation
• Participate in internal special projects The team You’ll be part of the Legal Execution and Corporate Secretary team (“LECS”) in Singapore or Hong Kong, that provides high quality, timely, independent and cost-effective support for Group Legal. You will mainly assist the lawyers in the Global Banking legal team in Asia, who are responsible for advising our Global Banking colleagues on legal and regulatory matters related to the equity and debt capital markets services they offer to our clients across Asia. You will also be expected to work with other members of LECS and Group Legal in relation to a wide variety of legal and regulatory issues when required. Your skills and experience You have:
• a law degree
• ideally worked 2 years’ in a similar position before, either at a law firm or in an investment bank or wealth management environment
• the ability to multi-task
• a strong attention to details coupled with a solution orientated approach
• a willingness to learn and work a team player You are:
• able to read and write in English and Chinese. Fluency in reading and writing Chinese is essential due to high volume of North Asia work.
• persistent in reaching defined objectives with stamina, initiative and drive
• able to handle pressure and used to working to deadlines
• comfortable in working in a dynamic and varied legal environment
• an excellent team player and as such an expert at building networks and connections and in communicating across rank and cultures
• you’re curious to explore how AI can improve how we build, deliver, and optimize workflows. You do this with sound judgment – validating outputs and aligning with policies, risk standards, and ethical use
