SCREEN SPE Germany GmbH is the European subsidiary of SCREEN Semiconductor Solutions Co., Ltd., headquartered in Kyoto Japan. As part of our Advanced R&D (ARD) business unit based in Europe, we are looking for talented and versatile database & AI application engineers to join our team. The candidate will work at the intersection of data management, engineering, and implementation and will contribute to next-generation solutions for controlling semiconductor processes and equipment. This position combines hands-on database development, secure data integration, the design and deployment of AI applications, and software integration. Your responsibilities Database Development & Software Integration
• Design and develop ETL pipelines integrating multimodal data such as process, equipment and log data
• Develop solutions for secure data integration across different SCREEN sites
• Deploy reliable and scalable ETL solutions on existing platforms
• Collaborate with R&D teams to integrate data into simulation, modelling and AI applications
• Support the definition of software requirements and software architectures
• Transform R&D code into user-friendly software tools for internal deployment AI Application Development
• Explore state-of-the-art AI technologies and identify opportunities for industrial applications
• Develop, train and validate AI models for semiconductor process and equipment control
• Work on applications including classification, regression, fault detection and predictive maintenance
• Bring AI solutions from experimentation into practical applications for internal teams and external customers Collaboration & Innovation
• Work closely with international and cross-functional R&D and engineering teams
• Collaborate with external technology partners, academic institutions and industry experts
• Share knowledge and demonstrate the value of data management, AI, modelling and simulation through practical use cases and training
• Contribute new ideas, tools and methods to continuously improve our R&D workflows
• Build knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes and SCREEN technologies
• Potentially contribute to publications and patents and present research at international scientific conferences and trade shows What you bring
• Practical experience with at least one database management system such as PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server or Azure SQL Database
• Basic knowledge of ETL concepts, database modelling and database performance
• Experience or knowledge in software architecture
• Experience with container technologies such as Docker or Apptainer
• Programming and scripting skills, particularly in Python, Java, C++, C#, Shell scripting or comparable technologies
• Familiarity with collaborative development environments such as GitHub
• A good understanding of machine learning fundamentals, including supervised and unsupervised learning, classification and regression
• Interest or initial practical experience in AI and data-driven solutions, including emerging technologies such as Large Language Models
• Experience with Python libraries such as NumPy, pandas and scikit-learn; experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow is an advantage
