Sphere Defense is a fully funded technology startup with the mission of providing allied countries with sovereign, effective and seamless autonomous countermeasures to neutralize todays’ and tomorrow’s aerial threats.
Sphere Defense was founded by industry veterans with previous successful exits, and is headquartered in Brussels, Belgium, in the heart of Europe.
About you
You are an experienced and highly motivated Electronics Engineer that has worked with both high speed digital (integrating SoCs, DDRs, cameras) and analog (power stages, sensing, signal conditioning) designs. Ideally, you have worked with flying robots.
What you’ll do
Be one of the first members of a high performing team, designing and developing autonomous countermeasures to protect countries from aerial threats
Design, develop and test system architectures and electronic boards, both internally and with external partners, with high speed peripherals and sensors
Bring up boards and systems, ensuring that all intended functional and performance requirements are met
Work with your colleagues to integrate feedback during design reviews
Troubleshoot and debug problems, ensuring that issues are addressed as they appear
Ensure the designs adhere to the industrial quality standards by drafting test plans and working with test houses for validation and certification
Draft production level documentation for the entire product lifecycle
Be a team player and a mentor, being available to support the team when needed
Location:
Onsite in Brussels, Belgium Reports to: Chief Technology Officer Requirements Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent At least 4 years of relevant experience, with significant ownership of complex designs Proficiency with Altium Designer and/or Cadence OrCAD/Allegro Deep electrical engineering skills in both the digital and analog worlds Proficiency with Schematic Capture and PCB Layout design Knowledge of DFM and reliability issues for complex electronics Experience in selecting components and creating production ready documentation (BOM, assy, etc.) Hands on, with demonstrated ability in system bring up and internally prototyping boards Proficient with lab equipment (oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, etc.) You are a self starter, able to work in a high ambiguity environment and willing to take up new challenges Excellent written and spoken English, French or Dutch is a plus Preferred Qualifications Ability to write firmware to bring up boards and PC software to test them Experience with FPGAs Experience with Embedded Linux (Yocto) Experience interfacing with EMS and with EOL tests implementation Experience with one or more of the following: RF/antenna design, motor control, rigid flex design, electro optical systems, SI/PDN simulation
