About the job
We are looking for a Data Scientist specialised in text mining and Natural Language Processing to design, develop and optimise advanced AI, NLP and Machine Learning solutions. The role focuses on building robust, scalable and efficient models and applications, including the use of LLMs, RAG frameworks and state-of-the-art approaches to support complex institutional projects.
Responsibilities
• Design, implement and optimise advanced AI, NLP and ML models using LLMs, RAG frameworks and other state-of-the-art approaches.
• Create methods for tokenisation, part-of-speech tagging, named entity recognition, classification, clustering and other text mining-related tasks.
• Fine-tune pre-trained models on domain-specific tasks.
• Conduct research and stay updated on the latest trends and advancements in NLP, ML and AI technologies.
• Develop and maintain robust, scalable and efficient code using Python.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI/ML solutions into existing products and services.
• Perform rigorous analysis and experimentation to improve model accuracy, efficiency and scalability.
• Participate in peer reviews and contribute to the continuous improvement of AI solutions.
• Contribute to the design and implementation of ML application architecture and its solution stack.
• Develop comprehensive reports and visualisations to communicate insights and findings to stakeholders. Specific expertise and technologies
• EQF6 qualification with a focus on Statistics, Data Science or Machine Learning.
• Experience in Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing.
• Excellent knowledge of Python and libraries such as Pandas, SpaCy, NLTK and Hugging Face.
• Experience with deep learning frameworks for complex model architecture, such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
• Experience with AI-powered code assistants, such as Amazon Kiro or GitHub Copilot.
• Good knowledge of SQL tooling, including Oracle and PostgreSQL.
• Knowledge of NoSQL databases, including Elasticsearch and MongoDB.
• Knowledge of architectural design of scalable ML solutions, such as model servers and GPU resource optimisation.
• Experience with A/B testing and experimental design of ML models.
• Experience with pre-trained models and LLMs such as GPT and other Transformer-based architectures.
• Experience with tools such as Matplotlib and Seaborn for creating data visualisations.
• Strong understanding of linguistics and text processing techniques.
• Proficiency in continuous code delivery and unit testing.
• Understanding of bias in ML applications and bias mitigation techniques.
• Knowledge in one of the following areas: predictive analytics, prescriptive simulation, topic detection, plagiarism detection, trend or anomaly detection in datasets, and recommendation systems.
• Good knowledge of the European Commission grant management ecosystem, including eGrants, would be an asset. Skills and competencies
• Proficiency in understanding and applying statistical concepts and models.
• Ability to formulate problems and develop solutions using data-driven approaches.
• Ability to communicate complex data insights clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
• Results-oriented mindset focused on delivery.
• Good communication skills in English, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to write clear and well-structured documentation. If you wish to integrate a dynamic structure on a human scale while working with the latest technologies, don't wait anymore and join Cronos
