Job Description
This role will perform Lead Engineer duties for the LabVantage LIMS Product within Innovative Medicine (IM) globally. The role will assist in building LIMS strategies, roadmaps and delivering IM LabVantage (LV) LIMS portfolio. Key Responsibilities
The Lead Engineer (LE) for LIMS will play a crucial role, operating at the intersection of business and technology. This position involves defining strategies that stem from a deep understanding of business needs and challenges, alongside technology solutions. The LE will be responsible for conveying requirements into development execution for the IM LIMS platform. Additionally, the LE will comprehend value realization and oversee ongoing product management across multiple modules. The LE will define the strategy and way of working for the software engineers on the product. Key duties will include:
· Function as the LE for IM LIMS, developing the vision and roadmap while guiding the squad in delivering product and platform features.
· Build and maintain strong partnership with the global Technical Product Owner, Business Product Owner (BPO) and key business stakeholders.
· Establish technology roadmaps to achieve efficient & effective delivery of business & customer value for IM LIMS product.
· Balance business value with technical feasibility while prioritizing features, optimizing cost and improving delivery efficiency.
· Define the product / platform vision, strategy and OKR’s for IM LV LIMS, aligning business demand with the product/ platform roadmap.
· Shape the IM LIMS squad vision and steer the squad in delivering features oriented around business impact. Accountable for shaping and hitting squad OKRs.
· Plan resourcing for the IM LIMS squad, create TS Engage requests, interview, select and onboard members to join the squad.
• Drive reporting and analytics to provide visibility on squad performance and monitor sprint metrics and user results.
• Collaborate to ensure all partners are clear on product roadmap activities, design, interdependencies, and timelines.
· Interact with other Squads within the Product / Platform to implement cross-squad tasks, promoting continuous improvement throughout the product lifecycle
· Facilitate Change Control and Risk Management Processes. Qualifications
Education:
· Bachelor’s degree is required. A Masters degree is preferred. Experience and
Skills:
· Minimum of 5+ years experience in leading and delivering LIMS initiatives within the Life sciences industry, preferably Pharmaceuticals.
· Strong understanding of LIMS/Labs business workflows.
· Proven experience in collaborating with global and cross functional teams.
· Proven track record collaborating with business partners to translate needs into relevant technology platforms and solutions.
· Strong experience gathering requirements and translating into a product vision and OKRs.
• Strong experience in managing a product backlog/release plan, tracking team level metrics.
• Skilled in constructing business cases, tracking benefits realization, and driving technology adoption to enhance business value.
· Ability to stay up to date on technology trends to identify and evaluate new technologies that can be applied to IM Quality.
• Experience managing vendor partners in developing and supporting complex technical systems.
• Experience with GxP Quality Management systems and processes
• Experience with software development and testing methodologies (SDLC) and Agile project management.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, with strong interpersonal skills and a team-oriented approach.
• Ability to influence, negotiate, and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders across complex matrix organizations.
• Proven ability to manage high levels of complexity and multiple competing priorities.
· Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical partners and to lead and empower teams, set the vision, drive technology strategy and roadmap, and build strong relationships.
• Familiarity with advanced analytics, AI/ML, or rule based automation applied to lab execution, exception handling, or quality signal detection. Preferred Technology/System Knowledge:
· LabVantage LIMS
· Cloud computing platforms, such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
· Sufficient knowledge of ERP, MES and Quality systems for systems integration
· Asset Management tools such as ServiceNow, SolarWinds, etc.
· Integration middleware/iPaaS technologies such as BTPi.
· DevOps and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD).
• Familiarity with middleware tools and data platforms.
· Agile frameworks like Scrum and Kanban
• Experience with JIRA, MS Project, and Confluence.
