Job Description
Hong Kong Golf & Tennis Academy (HKGTA) under Rosewood Hotel Group is seeking a commercially astute, strategically minded sports professional to lead its integrated Sports Development & Education function, elevate patron experience, and deliver sustainable growth across golf, tennis, wellness, junior development, and sports programming. You will own the strategic and operational leadership of HKGTA's entire sports ecosystem — golf, tennis, patron engagement, kids programming, and wellness This is a senior leadership role reporting directly into the General Manager, with full accountability for departmental strategy, budget, coaching standards, and cross-functional integration across HKGTA's other departments.
Key Responsibilities
• Own and evolve the multi-year Sports Development & Education strategy across golf, tennis, wellness, and junior/family programming, aligned to HKGTA's positioning as a premier golf, tennis, and wellness destination.
• Translate strategy into annual departmental business plans, resource plans, and CAPEX investment proposals, presented to the General Manager and relevant committees.
• Continuously benchmark HKGTA's sports offering against premier Hong Kong and regional competitors to sustain market leadership.
• Set and enforce coaching standards across the tennis coaching bench and golf instruction staff, ensuring alignment with sports partnership standards.
• Hold full P&L accountability for the Sports Development & Education department, including revenue from coaching programmes, camps, clinics, pro-shop, and patron engagement activities.
• Prepare and defend the annual budget and forecast with the Director of Finance and General Manager, and report monthly P&L performance and variance analysis.
• Identify and execute new revenue streams to grow both top-line revenue and departmental margin.
• Partner closely with Marketing and Academy Experience to ensure sports programming is reflected accurately in marketing, academy experience, and patron communications.
• Coordinate with Admissions and Events & Partnership on trial experiences, patron conversion events, and corporate partnership activations involving sports facilities.
• Liaise with Engineering and Rooms leadership on facility maintenance, renovation planning, and guest-facing standards for golf and tennis facilities.
• Own health, safety, and risk management standards for all sports facilities, coaching sessions, and junior programming, including duty-of-care protocols for minors.
• Ensure coaching certifications, insurance, and vendor compliance are current and audit-ready at all times.
• Represent the department in relevant committee meetings, presenting performance updates, risk items, and strategic proposals to senior stakeholders. What You Should Have
• Minimum 10–15 years of progressive leadership experience in premium sports, recreation, or club environments, with at least 3–5 years at Head of Department or Director level carrying full P&L accountability.
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Sports Management, Sports Science, Exercise and Health, Hospitality, or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience managing multi-disciplinary teams across coaching, programming, and patron-facing operations.
• Direct experience in golf and/or tennis programme leadership strongly preferred, given HKGTA's flagship coaching partnerships.
• Proven ability to build and execute a multi-year sports strategy, not solely operational delivery.
• Strong financial acumen: budgeting, forecasting, P&L ownership, and revenue-generation track record.
• Demonstrated coaching-standards governance, including managing Head Coach-level talent and elite coaching pathways.
• Strong cross-functional stakeholder management across marketing, admissions, finance, talent, and facilities functions.
• Fluent English required; Cantonese and/or Mandarin strongly preferred for member, patron, and staff engagement.
