At Nalys, we are a technology engineering and consulting group dedicated to delivering high-value expertise to our partners. We specialize in supporting industry leaders through their most complex technological challenges, driven by a strong engineering culture and a passion for innovation.
You will be joining our team to work on a strategic, long-term project for one of our major clients, a leading global player in the automotive sector. To support their development, we are looking for skilled Basic Software Engineers capable of handling both low-level software development and robust HIL/SIL validation.
Job Description
In a cutting-edge technical environment, you will have a dual role as both developer and validator, ensuring the reliability of the embedded code from its initial design to its hardware integration.
• Basic Software Development: Design, develop, and configure Basic Software (BSW) modules in C/C++ for real-time embedded systems. Develop low-level drivers and configure the Microcontroller Abstraction Layer (MCAL). Implement and configure automotive communication stacks (CAN, LIN, Automotive Ethernet) and diagnostic protocols (UDS, OBD). Ensure continuous integration of the code while strictly adhering to coding standards (MISRA C/C++) and functional safety guidelines.
• Testing, Validation & Simulation (SIL & HIL): Software-in-the-Loop (SIL): Design and execute unit and integration tests in virtual environments (SIL) to validate software logic early in the development cycle (Shift-Left testing). Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL): Develop, configure, and automate test scenarios on HIL benches (e.g., dSPACE, Vector, ETAS) to validate the software directly on the target ECUs. Develop and maintain scripts (Python) for test automation and results analysis. Analyze network communication logs (using tools like Vector CANoe / CANalyzer) to perform root-cause analysis of bugs and implement quick fixes. Collaborate closely with system architects, application developers, and integration teams to ensure seamless deployment. Profile / Requirements
Education:
Master's or Engineering Degree in Embedded Systems, Electronics, Computer Science, or a related field.
Experience:
Minimum 3 years of experience in embedded software development and validation, preferably within the automotive, aerospace, or railway industries. Required Technical Skills Excellent proficiency in C and C++ programming within a real-time environment (RTOS). Solid hands-on experience with HIL testing environments (e.g., dSPACE, ControlDesk) and SIL validation. Strong understanding of automotive vehicle networks: CAN, LIN, Automotive Ethernet. Proficiency with network simulation and analysis tools (Vector CANoe, CANalyzer). Strong scripting skills, ideally in Python, for test automation. Nice-to-Have (Bonus Skills) Knowledge of the AUTOSAR architecture (Classic or Adaptive) and configuration tools (DaVinci, Elektrobit, etc.). Familiarity with functional safety standards (ISO 26262) and cybersecurity (ISO 21434). Experience working with CI/CD pipelines (Git, Jenkins, Jira). Soft Skills Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills on complex systems. Proactive, autonomous, and a great team player. Fluent English is mandatory (written and spoken) to evolve in an international project environment. French and Dutch are a plus. Benefits A permanent contract with a competitive salary and benefits package. The opportunity to work on tomorrow's mobility technologies (autonomous, connected, and electric vehicles).
