YOUR ROLE
As a Material Engineer specialising in Paint & Surface Treatment, you will be responsible for the development, validation, and continuous improvement of paint and surface treatment processes — ensuring coatings meet the highest standards of durability, corrosion resistance, quality, and appearance across manufacturing and supplier activities.
In this role you will play a key role in:
• Defining and maintaining paint and coating specifications, ensuring all surface treatment processes meet durability, corrosion resistance, and appearance requirements
• Supporting paint process optimisation across manufacturing plants, working closely with production teams to drive quality improvements and resolve process inefficiencies
• Investigating coating defects and corrosion issues in the field and in production, conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions to uphold product quality standards
• Collaborating with suppliers to qualify new paints and surface treatments, managing technical evaluations and ensuring alignment with engineers and environmental requirements
• Supporting new product development and continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring full compliance with relevant quality and environmental standards throughout the material and process lifecycle
YOUR PROFILE
We are looking for a technically minded and detail-oriented engineer with a passion for materials science, surface engineering, and manufacturing quality.
• You hold a Master's degree in Materials Engineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field, and bring at least 4 years of relevant experience in industrial coatings or surface treatment
• You have solid hands-on experience with industrial painting processes, surface preparation methods, and corrosion protection systems, ideally within an automotive, agricultural, or heavy equipment manufacturing environment
• You are knowledgeable in paint systems, surface treatment technologies, and laboratory testing methodologies, and are comfortable conducting and interpreting performance tests
• You bring strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate complex coating or corrosion issues and translate findings into practical, actionable solutions
• You communicate fluently in English, both in technical documentation and in cross-functional or supplier-facing settings, with the ability to present findings clearly to engineering and management stakeholders What You'll Love About Working Here
• Hybrid working: We encourage flexibility when it comes to when and where works gets done. Employees work with their managers to determine an arrangement that works best for their role and personal circumstances.
• Free access to learning platforms: Free access for all to world-class learning assets and curated programs from Harvard Business Review, Coursera, Pluralsight, Udemy, Microsoft, AWS, Google and many more.
