Business Analyst

We are looking for an experienced Senior Business Analyst to strengthen a team of energy sector experts. The consultant will analyze business needs and market developments within the Belgian energy market and translate them into aligned, consistent, and implementable processes, requirements, UMIG documentation, and solution designs. The role involves close collaboration with distribution system operators, market participants, business stakeholders, architects, development teams, and testing teams. The consultant will lead business analysis activities from the initial business need through implementation handover and testing support, ensuring full traceability and consistency across requirements, processes, designs, and test artefacts. The mission is performed in a complex multi-stakeholder environment requiring strong facilitation, organizational, communication, and consensus-building capabilities. Your

missions:
• Analyze business needs, market developments, and change requests within the Belgian energy market.
• Translate business needs into functional, non-functional, and operational requirements.
• Design, model, and optimize business processes, market roles, information flows, and market messages.
• Produce and maintain UMIG documentation and related business artefacts.
• Develop solution designs aligned with applicable product and solution architecture standards.
• Ensure consistency, quality, and traceability between business requirements, processes, messages, solution designs, and test scenarios.
• Facilitate workshops with distribution system operators and other market stakeholders.
• Manage stakeholder alignment and support decision-making in situations involving conflicting interests.
• Prepare implementation-ready documentation and support validation and testing activities.
• Contribute to change management and communication initiatives across stakeholders. Your activities:
• Gather, analyze, and document business requirements.
• Analyze market evolutions and assess their impact on business processes and systems.
• Define functional, non-functional, and operational requirements.
• Model and optimize business processes using BPM approaches.
• Model market roles, information exchanges, and message flows.
• Create, maintain, and update UMIG documentation, including:
• Business requirements
• Process descriptions
• Information models
• Message details
• Review, analyze, and correct Functional Design documents.
• Produce solution designs in line with product and solution architecture guidelines.
• Maintain traceability between business needs, requirements, processes, message flows, designs, and testing artefacts.
• Facilitate workshops and working sessions with stakeholders.
• Identify conflicting interests and drive stakeholders toward consensus.
• Produce consensus, decision, and validation documentation.
• Prepare stakeholder management, communication, and change management plans.
• Deliver complete, validated, and implementation-ready documentation.
• Support functional validation activities.
• Support testing execution, defect analysis, and business acceptance.
• Define and elaborate test plans and test scenarios.
• Write and execute SQL queries when required. You have the following

skills:
Mandatory
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Business Analyst.
• Minimum 5 years of experience within the Belgian energy market.
• Proven experience reading, analyzing, and correcting Functional Design documents.
• Proven experience developing test plans and test scenarios.
• Proven experience facilitating workshops.
• Proven experience in business process development and optimization (BPM).
• Minimum 2 years of experience with the UMIG Domain Structure.
• Strong organizational and coordination skills in complex multi-stakeholder environments.
• Dutch or French proficiency at CEFR C1 level.
• Good knowledge of the second Belgian national language (minimum B2).
• English proficiency at CEFR C1 level. Preferred
• Proven experience writing and executing SQL queries.
• Proven experience with market messages and information flows within the UMIG Domain Structure.

• Services are expected to be performed at least two days per week on-site in Brussels, in accordance with the applicable office presence policy.
