Help us launch a brand-new news site covering solid-state cooling and heating, one of the most exciting emerging fields in climate tech.
About ATMOsphere
ATMOsphere is a global, independent market accelerator that has been on a mission to clean up cooling and heating since 2006. We help bring climate-friendly technologies to market by connecting the people who build, buy and regulate them: manufacturers, end users, policymakers and researchers.
We do this through three platforms:
• Events: Since 2009, our ATMO conferences have welcomed more than 20,000 participants and hosted 2,600+ presentations by end users, OEMs and policymakers across 90 events in 35 cities and 22 countries.
• News: NaturalRefrigerants.com is our news site covering natural refrigerant-based cooling and heating technologies, from commercial refrigeration and heat pumps to industrial systems.
• Market intelligence: Our research team publishes market reports and databases that track technology adoption worldwide, such as our annual report on commercial and industrial refrigeration with natural refrigerants. More than 300 industry partners work with us across these platforms. We're now expanding our coverage to solid-state cooling and heating: technologies that move heat using solid materials instead of refrigerants. You'll help launch our dedicated news site for this emerging industry. Position overview We are seeking an Associate Editor to write and edit content for a new website dedicated to covering the emerging solid-state cooling and heating industry. Solid-state heating and cooling is an exciting field that replaces refrigerants with solid materials that produce heat or cooling when exposed to magnetic fields or mechanical stressors. You'll report the latest news in this sector, including but not limited to:
• New company and product launches
• In-depth interviews with company leaders
• Live reporting from trade shows and industry events
• Recently published scientific papers This position reports to and works closely with the Managing Editor of NaturalRefrigerants.com.
Key responsibilities
• Editorial oversight: Be a strong judge of news. You can assess what makes a story newsworthy and understand where it fits in the wider industry.
• Reporting: Source your own content. This means building a list of online sources sharing news about solid-state cooling and heating companies, as well as a network of human sources working in the industry.
• Managing publication: Establish and manage an editorial calendar for your articles.
• Writing/editing: You'll be responsible for writing and editing at least one article per day on the solid-state cooling and heating industry. Over time, the expectation is to publish more articles per day. Desired skills and qualifications
• Full fluency in English, either native or full business proficiency.
• 2+ years of experience editing or writing content, preferably at a newspaper or at an outlet focused on technical subjects (engineering, for example) or sustainability.
• Based in Europe.
• Experience working with highly technical subject matter and distilling it so a general audience can understand it.
• Experience using AI in content production and sourcing. AI doesn't write our content, but we do use it in our research, for example.
• Willingness to travel. This role will attend trade shows and industry events in Europe and other parts of the world. The frequency of travel is still being decided, but candidates should at least be available to attend events once per quarter. Bonus points
• You've written about solid-state cooling technologies or natural refrigerant-based heating and cooling technologies.
• You've built your own AI tools to assist in content production.
• You have experience recruiting and managing freelance writers. This role may grow to include building a team of freelance contributors and, if so, you would be responsible for recruiting and managing them.
• You have experience reporting from trade shows.
What we offer
• Salary based on your background and experience
• 100% remote work
• Travel insurance
• Other benefits to be discussed We’re also open to a freelance collaboration, with a rate based on your experience.
